I do remember the BBS. What is more, I was the owner of what became a 16-line BBS in my hometown, the first one there. Began with 2 lines, and was around files and chat. Brings back memories and I could stay hours talking about those times... but I will go back to game now.

Ahh flashbacks.

Amer you have to add a door game. I think it was called Camelot. You took over towns collecting taxes and building an army. Eventually you would try to take over the castle and become king.

Anyone else remember that game?

anywho, I might if u guys decide to stick in the mop section whether mops are Classified Big or Small. I for one would like to know which bosses are Small and such petty info that might prove useful. If you could then great, I don't exactly rely on other monitors here for changes that we might want *no offense others*, but I know you pretty much are an all around great person and _might_ grant me my request without the attitude I got the last time I politely requested it.
Then again, you might not^^ either way, the other sites with this info are kinda hard to navigate. Compendium is of course, the best.

My RPG gaming experience goes back to MUD's, on a dial-up basis ^^
I first started with ICE Online a local BBS with a mud designed by a developer at Electronic Arts in Burnaby, BC - that game got too expensive to play so I moved to MajorMUD which was also another local dial-up. if I could still dial-up to a MUD i would, they were so fun much because they were text you had to imagine the world you played in which made the game so much more enjoyable.

You have to remember that these games date back to a time when there was no widespread access to telnet, and people had to dial directly into BBSes via modem. The people who ran BBSes needed to pay for every single phone line if they wanted multiple simultaneous connections.

Almost all Door games are designed to allow people to compete and have fun with a minimal investment of time, so they could log off and free up the phone lines for someone else to connect. The advantage of this approach is that it rewards skill in competitive games, rather than pure investment of time. In Lineage, the player who can play 24/7 will always be the strongest, unless they're REALLY bad. In LORD or other door-games like TradeWars, BRE, etc... it's the most skilled player, who can make the most efficient use of his turns every day.

If someone beats you, you know it's because they did more with their turns than you did, not because they spent all day building levels or something.

Every time i log on, it asks me if i want to view a list of messages. No matter what option i choose (yes/no) it boots me out saying "invalid command search" or something like that.
