Lineage on the Sony Clie

Furthering the strategic partnership between NCSoft Corp. and Sony Online Entertainment, NCSoft has unveiled a Lineage prototype on the Sony Clie handheld. The demo was given on Sony's latest NR70 class handheld (currently available only in Japan, expected to hit the US on May 12) and takes advantage of the NR70 series powerful 66MHz chip combined with Sony's InfoStick (not released yet) which is capable of wireless transmission speeds up to 1MBps at a range of 10 meters.

"Because the handheld platform is limited to 320x480 resolution and 65,536 colors, the normally enormous resources consumed by the Lineage client for desktops could be heavily reduced to fit on Sony's upcoming 256MB MemoryStick" says Mike Vitelli, president of Sony's consumer electronics group.

Timetables for the open beta/final release of this new platform (or even how it's supposed to work with a stylus instead of a keyboard) are unknown. "RPGs that look similar to Lineage, such as Ancient Red, are already available for the Palm handheld - and they don't require the power of the Sony Clie to run. We felt it would be innovative of NCSoft to be the first to enter this market." said Taekjin Kim, president, NCsoft.

This handheld only available in Japan... This gadget wont come to US for another 5-10 years just like the other high tech cell phones, mp3 player, MD player, portable DVD/VCD/CD/MP3 devices out there.... so lets move to Tokyo and play lineage on the subway in Shibuya District, Ginza District etc on the way to work/school o____O ... i dont know what i am talking about... or i wait less than US and buy from TW next time i go back -__-

i think even I would start playing lineage with this thing. when does it come out?! i wonder if it'll play on a clie 615. that's what i was thinking of getting, but if not, i'm thinking about waiting for the one that's in the article. so cool!

why would anyone want to pk me... mp3! i bring these forums joy and happiness. I never bad mouth nobody yet people dont like me WHY? >______< Without mp3 in our lives we would be living in a sad sad world.

Also i agree with jaive..... its not like your gonna have a Mouse and keyboard strapped over your shoulder on the bus/subway. Its completely un-playedable on one of those things! You cant play with those touch screen things and type at the same time... and even if you did bring a keyboard mouse with you... you would get MAD beats from everyone on the bus cuz you being so babo. -__-

I checked the pic of the InfoStick and it seems like it's BlueTooth...
Wonder how much to pay for the thing with Internet.. (not the NR70)

I own a Sony Clie N710C. I've also owned a Palm Vx and a Palm m505. I've used the Handspring Visor, the Handspring Prism, the Ipaq, Palm VIIx, Palm IIIx, Palm IIIc. I have to say that not only does the Sony Clie work *perfectly*, but its also the best handheld I've ever owned. I plan to upgrade to the Sony NR70 series as well.

you can play lineage on a "hand held" almost like that.. Microsoft Rt76 with 256mb memory can run lineage.. its pretty good if you go somewhere. its not out in market yet.. but when it will.. im estimating the price would be around 1k$
