Introducing LinWeb
Summary

Want to show off your +9 rapier to your friends anytime of the day or night, without logging into Lineage? Curious to know who took over Windawood castle on your server and raised the tax rates sky high? Want to plan your siege in advance? You can do all of this and more using LinWeb – the newest addition to the Lineage website. Currently in beta testing stages, LinWeb allows you to review your character statistics, inventory, and spells and reveal that information to your friends using a web browser. You can also adjust your privacy controls to make your character information public – and then give out your character URL to your friends. The information is near real-time (once per hour) and available any time of day or night!

Detail

Additionally, we’ve updated the Lineage castle control map – an interactive map that allows you to view the current castle owners on any US Lineage server. You can check the current tax rate, last siege, and upcoming siege times as well.
Both of these areas are currently in beta testing stages and may be removed from external testing if necessary. If you do encounter a bug using these areas of the website, please email web@lineage.com with the following information:

1. Date/time of error
2. Error message received if any
3. An exact description of the error
4. Browser type (Internet Explorer? Netscape?) and version #. You can find this information in the “About” section of your web browser’s help menu. Note: certain aspects of LinWeb will not work with Netscape 4.0.
5. Operating System (Windows? Macintosh?)
6. The character name and server (not your password!!) of the error occurrence.

aupairKing: With that I would say to take some basic steps to prevent from getting hacked by someone. 1) Do not accept files from anyone. If you absolutely have no choice to accept a file, scan it with a BRAND NEW anti-virus scanner first (most anti virus scanners are now coded to catch hack infections). (2) Scan your computer regularly with anti-virus or anti-hack scanners. Make sure you are using a brand new scanner, updated.

Remember that even if someone says they are sending you a picture file, it could actually be a hack infector. Windows is by default set to not show file extensions. So they send you a file named "picture.jpg" but without showing file extensions, you cannot see taht the file is actually "picture.jpg.EXE" and is a hack infector. If you think you just accidentally opened a hack infector, scan your computer immediately. Even disconnect from the internet while you scan, unplug the network cable.
I have seen people who were friends with someone else for months hack them. The hacker has patience, and will pretend to be a friend for a long time if they can fool you.

NCSoft will NOT ask for your password or login via email or ICQ. If you go to a web site that asks for your login info, double check the URL first. Make sure it is lineage.com or lineage-us.com . Our login database does NOT crash and lose the login info, like some hackers suggest.

VEERY cool, first good thing ive seen in years.

some suggestions:

make a page where you could see a list of public chars.

also for people that dont want to get hacked, dont use it. besides unless you give away your info to a "friend" or download a file from hell knows whom

(scan the files you download, or make sure they are from an acceptable source such as a large company website.

i donno my real life friend just got hacked and oh yea.. i know who did it. no names mentioned he ends for life..i donno if he downloaded any files or recieved anything.. but i'm pretty sure that they wont be able to get info on your account from the officail site..plus check out this article it says i'm pretty sure its says NC in korea has double steal doors and securtiy like a bank.. if nc in korea is like that it might be similar and very secure

Yes this is pretty good, but i know nc can do way better. They should also fix stuff, like that long range/magic bug. Instead of trying to impress people with this useless char thingy. Get up and do something useful nc ...
