A First Glance at Turtle Island
Lands of Aden players who are level 30 and under now have a new, "safer" playground. Turtle Island can be accessed by visiting Pandora (on Talking Island) to purchase a Return to Turtle Island Scroll.

Upon using the scroll, a player may be momentarily disoriented, for Turtle Island looks very much like Talking Island. "Did it work?" Ah yes, there is nothing but a bare patch of grass where normally stands the storage dwarf. In fact, there are no shopkeepers of any kind in Turtle Town.

Upon exiting town, one will find even more differences between Turtle Island and Talking Island. Turtle Island is thriving with a slightly different variety of mops. On a stroll around the beach, I came across plentiful Werewolves, Goblins, Orc Fighters, Wizards and a few Scouts (ouch), Alligators, Imps and Imp Elders, Eidons, Skeletons, Stone Golems, Dobermans, Turtles, Crabmen, Floating Eyes, Bears, Gnolls and more. I also heard whispered rumors of Crustaceans which spawn on the beach, though I did not have opportunity to see one.

Other than players and mops, the island town and beaches are well patrolled by Guards and Rangers, though there is little need. Turtle Island is strictly a non-pk zone. As i wandered the shoreline counterclockwise, I did come across a well-guarded combat zone. The usual dungeon areas of Talking Island are nothing but solid cliffs on Turtle Island however.

Topographically (I could be wrong at first glance) I do believe Turtle Island is the same as Talking Island. Slightly northwest of the empty dock and empty Pandora beach area (there is no Pandora on Turtle Island) is a tiny wl surrounded with mature green trees. I don't remember if greenery such as this is identical on Talking Island, but after another pass or two to both islands we'll be able to say for sure.

We'll post more information as our reporters further explore Aden's newest land.

Hopefully we'll see an increase in areas, possibly even with new maps... keep adding and balancing, and I might soon be very tempted to start playing on LoA ;)

Is this area also on the US Test server?

I hear the reporter saying you need a scroll of Return to Turtle Island to get there, but did anyone say how you get off?

With all the new stuff on LoA I'm seriously considering moving. NC Austin has done a great job with the LoA server. Just wish Korea would give them that kind of control over Dep and ken...

OK - for those of you that have been around for any length of time, you will recognize this island as the "old artwork" for Talking Island - before it was "prettified" with the brighter colors and thatched roofs, etc.

To leave Turtle Island, just escape, restart or quit. You will pop to where you entered Turtle Island from. To go back, you have to have another scroll (only 80a) of Return to Turtle Island.

Yes, there are Turtle Dragons on the island, I ran across one. Haven't seen any Crustaceans yet, however.

No, there are no dungeons, as the original post pointed out. As yet, no dwarf and no Pandora or other type NPCs either. They may come - they may not.

I'm just pleased to see a place where the needed newbies (whose influx of new $ will continue to support LoA and NC) can level in peace, until they are of a level where the PK folks will have their work cut out for them and can't just PK (read harrass) the newbies with a level 5 wizard.

Thanks again to NC Austin!

This is good news for noobs which are tired of Torment, sorry... er..., Talking Island. TI has become a haven for PKs of the worst sort. Dog-killers and the like. Waiting for noobs at the dungeon entrance and so on. It has become difficult to go 5 steps in any direction without running into a PK on that island. Areas like this (though a bit unrealistic with the play of a PK Server) are very welcome indeed. To play the other side of the coin as a balance, I actually would like to see a Thieves Town or something where PKing is allowed inside of town. Now that would be interesting. The world is filled with nefarious cities, why not Aden?

It is always encouraging to hear positive feedback with the changes. Thanks MarkMark for the information, that's spot on.
The map is indeed a reuse of the "old" Talking Island--it was a faster solution to the problem of new player pk'ing than creating an entire new map (which, while technically possible for the Austin office, not very practical with the staff I have and goals of LoA at this time).
The map will continue evolve over time, with NPC additions such as vendors and so forth--but the priority was to correct the initial experience of the server.
I fully believe in structured PvP in an MMOG, but ganking players before they understand what's going isn't good for the game (or those type of PKers, because pretty soon they'll just be playing with themselves).
Regards,
CaptSturm

Yes there should be an NPC in the center of TI town name "New Players Guidesman" or something like that, because many new players to the game do not know where to go or what to do once they leave SI and land on TI.

Also I would like to bring up a new idea, since we're in a post about new things.
I just lost a ROSC on LOA server, letting a pledge mate use and he never return. Damn that Leet guy, he's a thief and a lier...
Well my new idea is to make another trading system... call it Borrow or Lend or something, where instead of typing /trade you would type /lend and you can lend an item to a friend or pledge member and that item will automatically be returned to you within a certain amount of time. Also make the "lended" item can not be traded or dropped. This way, players in the game will not be afraid to let friends/pledge members borrow their items, and also people will not lose items that then lend out. This will surely make the game more fun if everyone can past items around to friends/pledge members and not having to worry about losing those items. Its just an idea I thought up because I dont want to say "no" to people when they ask to borrow my stuff and also that I definitely do not want to lose anymore items.

To all those on LOA server...
Please dont buy the ROSC from Leet/Boob, he stole it from me after I let him use to summon. We used to be in the same pledge so I thought I could trust him. Now he's goin around telling people that he got it as a gift from a friend, or I gave it to him, or he ended me and I dropped it. First of all he CANT end me, secondly all my chars on LOA are FULL law. He's telling more than one story so obviously he's lying. If you buy it from him, you are just helping out a thief and lier get richer in the game.
Sorry for the super long post...but something has to be said.

Ikaris i'm very sorry to hear it
u have a good idea but this lend thing can be really hard to put in game, why? well if u /lend a nice item to sme like a +10tsu and this guy can't drop it even if he dies well u'll make an happy pk. i know u wanted that because the guy can let him die to drop it to a friend or in a quite place where he'll be able to retake it with nother char.
so good idea but i dunno how they could implement this

I'm just not being convinced that moving to LoA is a good thing. Yet another area for new players that is not needed. I started playing before any of this SI/HV stuff, and the game was easy then too. I don't know how much content you think the new players need. How about some more areas for mid-level players? And is it really true that when you make new items/monsters/areas, that you cannot make original animations? Or is it just laziness?

I have found crustaceans too. I have also found one Ogre and 3 ghasts O.o. There is still the unfortunate problem of PKers trying to kill low lvl players trying to get to Pandora or esp trying to get your dogs from the kennel. There should at least be a kennel on Turtle Island IMO.

*lol* OMG!!
#25 Good point and well put, but I have a another:
Thank god(lower case on purpose) they made a new shard before they started adding stuff like this. Now you can lvl to 30 in LoA with your head firmly pressed up your behind.
Have fun all you Monty Haul lovers! You're witnessing the death of a game. (trust me, you should've seen what Trammel did to Ultima Online) Think about it, you're already not playing Lineage with the rest of us. I don't know why NC likes to cater to people who really just are looking for a new game! When you CASUAL and POWER gamers all get tired of Lineage they will already have diven the REAL players (RPG/HARDCORE) who would have stayed away with these ridiculous changes. When I first came to Lineage with Lord British, it was because we thought this game would never sink to this level, I would have just stayed with Ultima Online if I knew it LINEAGE was going to turn into EVERQUEST.
If you guys like non-pvp, why not just play one of the games that have already been trashed? Oh well, at least LoA got all the lamers off Dep and bought us a bit more time. ^^
No, I'm not a PK. There's just NO POINT to non PvP MMORPG, GO PLAY EVERQUEER!

Sorry guys, just got sick reading the responses. You all can like it, I just don't. >< I like realistic games...
NOT ones where you get dump trucks full of Magical Items and don't have to interact with more powerful and seasoned players... yes they can hurt you, that's why you make higher lvl friends. What the hell do you people do in real life?
"No one gets thier feelings hurt?" *ROFL* Learn to deal with pain, it IS life.

#9 Please Please just go to LoA!
If Dep added this area and all the other garbage, then your wish would come true and ruin what's left of Lineage for those of us who love it. Do you seriously think everyone wants to live in Everquest?
I've been trying so hard to find a good game to stay with... it looks like this'll happen every 2 years though. The Original design is torn down for Marketing purposes, and those who sought the game for what it was and wasn't are betrayed.

THANK YOU FOR LEAVING US DEP!
#15 - People in Turtle Island are already playing with themselves! ><
I hope you read this. The solution to new player ganking is players acting as guides/guardians for new players. Why don't you try offering some incentive for that instead of designing a game where new players never understand the need for such things. The term "Structured PvP" is an ear mark for the fact that the future for me and players like me in this "NEW" game you're making out of our OLD one are null. I really hope you read this CaptSturm!!! I know about how you've been Banning players for things that they can do in context of the game. Not exploits or cheats or verbal Harrassment, JUST FOR BEING PKs!!! Get over it, what inspires people to help new players is seeing that evil. Your philosophy seems to include removing the possibility from the game for anyone to be a hero OR villan. I guess it's time to start looking for another game before you get any MORE influence with which you can RUIN DEP!!! It should be obvious to everyone that you're just making the game easier to manage so you can stop needing GM's. PLEASE GET IT!!! LET US HAVE ONE PLACE TO PLAY THAT'S NOT WEAK AND LAME, do what you want to LOA, BACK OFF with the BANNING and POLITICS on DEP!!! Not all people from the USA are the same. IT'S A GAME!
STOP PLAYING GOD!

(again I'm sorry folks, I just can't believe it's all happening again T.T)
That excuse about new players not having a chance to learn the game is pitiful. Is Ken not there anymore? Or are people in Texas just too dense to get the point of this game??? No folks, don't be fooled, this is Death by Marketing. Lvl 30 players can be squashed just as easy anyway. The gankers won't quit, only the Anti-Pks and Helpful players.
