Two-handed tsurugi

Several people on Test Server now have +7 tsurugi. Here is one of them. The key piece of information to note here is that it is two-handed in the USA. There were discussion on the message boards that this was an error a few weeks ago, and hopefully NC will correct it before it is released to the live servers. After all, it IS the test server. :)

It SHOULD be one handed or katana will pretty much become pointless. Hell, any weapon will instantly become pointless for knight except rapier (only for undead.)

Nice SS there amer ^^.
Its a two handed sword and it is "not" an eror. As NCI staff told me they dont are not aware of any plans to change it in future. After all its US server not Korean. ^^

I think its good that it is 2 handed so that a +9 rap with +8es can have a chance against a +7 tsu.

Izanagi.... i think the point of making the tsu EXTREMELY rare is to make kat look like a plastic knife.... ur willing to pay 10000k for a sword that a rap (worth 160k) can beat?

I hardly think a tsurugi is worth 10000k, unless you are referring to the +7 version, in which case the comparison is different (rap would be +9) and definitely worth more than 160k...

I agree with dabman. In my opinion, it would be way too overpowered if it were 1-handed. Hell, the Dragon Slayer is only 2 more damage to small monsters than the tsurugi, and it is 2-handed. For such an awesome amount of damage, there must be a penalty...its the same concept as with a bow. Advantage of range = loss of AC. I doubt even oranges could keep up with +7 Tsurugi damage for long, so it seems natural that the wielder should take more damage also...

if they make it one handed then a weapon of equal power should become available for mages elfs and especiall princes. Dragon slayer is currently too powerful for a server with only 200 users as well.

umm he shoudl also do test damage. like hit 10 times on -40 ac and tell us how much damage it did.

We did. I had -40AC. He hit me 9 times and took my level 31 con prince from 325 to 60 HP with the +7 tsu pictured. Ouch.

Guys you are missing the point, sheesh , nobody here has any idea what this update was about. They are gearing the Koreans up for a -6x ac , and +1x weapons. The monsters are all geared towards high lvls , the Dragons , well I been playing with new one , and to stand a chance to even be in the same room with it you need 500 hp for 1 hit. I am willing to bet that you need half the Dragon's left ( 50ish) to stand a fighting chance with a lot of players. Elves and Mages aren't going to stand much of chance against it. The magic spells , are begining to affect more radius (the dragons too).
tsurugi (however you spell it) won't be fit for US servers for a very very long time. Why? US players here are very very different than the Korean players. Most of the players here are just copying the Korean servers and players. Tsurugi is made for -5x ac , which most Korean players have, which not too many people have the time nor the patiences to do atm.
I think this update on the Test Server is what NCsoft should have wanted for relaunch. The music , the graphics, the items, the dragon , it is the best update I have seen , it made me very excited , especially with the strange sprites we got , and some of the strange errors people have been getting.
If you want my opinion , and I don't give a damn if you do or don't, we need to learn more , and try things out. Anyhow I hope the people finding errors on the Test Server are writing bug reports, I make notes but ... *shrugs* this update is what NCsoft should have relaunched with , if the sprites are what I think they are , they should enable them quickly before May anyhow. We are gonna get slaughter in May... And no I won't buy Lineage 2 unless Lord British gets focused on Lineage. I see one more interview , or one more book with him talking about his next project... He need to go visit Yoda , and read Star Wars, Darth Maul Shadow Hunter. Sheesh this update is soooo good, they got it on our plate very fast, come on NCsoft we need our crack... er our Lineage.

I disagree that it should be two-handed, if it was, it would be pointless, a lesser sword would be better because you could wear a shield with it. Besides, with everything you need to make the sword, only a couple people in the game could afford it.

If they can afford all those gems, they deserve to have an AWESOME weapon.

I have one question...I heard that the tsurugi takes mithril to make, is that true? If it is true, will it do 2X to undead as well?

And i think Tsurugi should be 1hs, i mean hey, people compare it to a DS and it is nothing compared. not many people will be able to get/make a tsurugi, so it should be 1hs. but i would take a DS over tsurugi anyday of the week.

hehe oops.. hit refresh :P well in any case i was just going to add that katana is still better for large, since its 10/12 and tsu is 16/10 ;) which would also make +6 rap better for undead then tsu :P sp tsu should be 1hs :)

I can vaguely remember when players would strive to see who would be the strongest player. Those days are over as the only question now is who will be the strongest knight, all other classes are now out of the race. Knights now have the best ER, AC, HP, weapon, morph, walk and swing speed in the game. They can now hit the hardest and take the most damage. NCI has claimed to try to keep the classes balanced, however this is no longer the case. I have a level 47 dex elf on Dep. It's a shame that I've worked so hard to make my character strong, but he can never be as strong as a knight who has simply been given better items and stats by the game. I find that to be pretty unfair. And to try to introduce wafers which will be more expensive to acquire than braves, but will be less effective is even more demoralizing.

how does it create inbalance? hunting wise mage is superior to knights, and PVP wis knights are superior to mages, as of right now

add the tsu as a 1 handed sword

Knights have a bit more edge now in hunting with a better weapon, mage doesn't change.PVP wise weakers knights get mualed by tsu holders because tsu holders are most likely to be the ppl holding it for the longest, and is rewarded with this great power.

if tsu was a 2 handed sword

knights have no advantage over mages in hunting due to lower ac ie: more pots used. PVP wise, n e other knight can kick ur butt cos they hold a kat and more ac?

that hardly sounds fair...

I recenly found out that a 18 str elf and 18 str knight isn't the same thing. Knight has more str somehow. And elf has more ac than knight? Hardly. Who gets Tower Sheild? Who gets 2-Handed Sword? Who gets all the different Plate Mail types (Regular, bronze, crystal, etc.)? I highly regard this as fair. I have an idea about this whole weapon/class unbalance problem I will post on the Lineage.com boards under Lineage Discussions.
