Dein_Cathair got a pretty good answer from Melantus (NC - USA, Community Coordinator) on weather effects in Lineage. If you didn't already know, there ARE weather effects, they just don't happen ever.

Dein_Cathair: ...When these boards first came up, within a few days, I had posted about Why were'nt the weather efects in some rotating repeating form. They are in place, and not being used.
I also posted in that message that it would be easy to implement some sort of addition to the gm client, where it could be set on some sort of timer and rotate. We know Gm's can change the weather. Just make a small programmable randomizer in his client. And the ability for an on/off switch.
Or even simpler! have the Gm's do it manually on a set vtime frame. You would give him a list of what time it is suspsed to rain, etc, and he would change it manually. I know how bored GM's are.. I seen them walking around dungeons before socializing with players. I bet they have time to change the weather if they were given a printed list of times tto change the weather.

Melantus: We like that idea, and have talked about it in meetings. However it's not something we can do right now, due to all the other stuff going on. We will talk again about it internally to see if it is possible to do, once things quiet down. :)

Dein_Cathair: Mel, could you do me a favor and list all the current posible effects?

Melantus: There are three levels of fog, three levels of rain, three levels of snow. Each level is increasing amounts from small to heavy. The fog makes certain screens go white, which is why is it not used.

Pretty cool, huh?

We need seasons, diff. day times and weather events in lineage. I don't wanna play in a game with all the days are the same....

yeah, u know, like when its fall, the leaves would turn colors, in winter there would be bare trees and snow all over the ground, in spring, it would be raining like everyday and the trees would just get their leaves back, and in summer it's like it is right now. That would be really cool.

As long as they only make the seasons a week long or so. I don't wanna play for 4 straight months looking at snow on the ground. Also, during winter, there should be no forest sounds or anything, then in springtime you can hear the birds and frogs and in the fall, leaves crunch under your feet.

Maybe they need more weather effects in addition to what they currently have. Lightning would be cool. In the same respect, they could make the tree's look like they are blowing in the wind. It's just a variation of what is done with say rain. Or there could be blowing effects visible on the screen( that might even push you in the direction it is blowing) (joke)haha
