us test server news
Have you tried the test server lately? If you like like me, it's very likely that you did '/music off' a long time ago. It looks like NCSoft has replaced the lineage theme song with a new song. personally, I like this new one better^^. If you want to hear it, click here: new music (5:00)

BlueBerry showed me this new item he found on the test server, called 'Paladin Armor'. He thinks that this may be a part of a prince armor set.

yeah but they are the best fighter in the game, so they should be able to wear alot/all the armour out there. but it would make a change to see armour out there that is not for knights just for another class.

Yes it is better, but don't really think it fits with the game. Not that the original really fit with the game either o_O. I really wished they would use mp3, they can make so much better quality music that way. Also if they made several songs so they could each have different moods to fit different times like in a cave, in town, in a castle, in a siege, or whatever. It is easy to create fadein/fadeout instructions for the music too.

I think dabman's idea is pretty cool. I would love to switch between pledge theme music, personal mp3s, and other mp3s. but then...we could just /music off and run winamp in the background :)

Yeah but that adds to the lag problem.

Well, i personally changed 0.mid in the lineage directory. Yes, it might be annoying when they patch to the next episode with new musics, so don't forget to backup the original Lineage music! But i'd love NC to enable 1.mid->9.mid

Umm mp3's wouldn't add to lag, they would be purely client based unless they decided to run a completely different song during an event or holiday for example. The fadein's/out's would also be client based. When you enter a cave, the Overworld Theme fades out from where it is, and when you appear in the cave the Cave theme fades in. This is what I think would make me keep the music on for at least 2 months: Overworld Song- 8:00 Town Song- 3:00 Dungeon Theme 1- 4:00 Dungeon Theme 2- 4:00 (These two themes could be picked for different dungeons according to their style, or they could be randomly picked when you enter the dungeon, for variation.) Quest Completed Song- 1:00 (After being played, this song fades out into the song for whatever location you are currently in. Joining of a Bloodpledge- 1:00 (After being played, this song fades out into the song for whatever location you are currently in. War/Siege Music- 3:00 (Very exciting and intense music to add to gameplay. Upon the end of the siege, it fades into these following:) Win!- :30 Lose- :30

I was refering to amateras post that he runs winamp. It adds to lag because it sucks up some ram, and we all know lineage is ram hungry.

LifeStealer: Lin only takes up 50 megs of RAM or so, besides, it shouldn't be an excuse as RAM is dirt cheap right now -.-; I run winamp with lin and it doesn't add no lag to me

I like the new music, it's about time!!! All they need to do now, is have 5or 6 (or more) which are rotated OR certain music is played in certain locations. For instance, different music would be played in dungeons, lower levels of dungeons( much eerier music down there), castles, etc. And Multiple chat cahnnels ^^

It depends on thier SDK , on what formats they can use in Lineage. I had a nondisclosure agree with Sir-Tech Canada, use to write design documents and send them in for review, MP3s are a big no no in PC games. Supposely it promotes stealing music. The new games coming out are gonna have Mp3-like music , limit rights (it fails to play anywhere but in the game , won't let you play music without having been created by a limited rights software.) The only bad thing about Midi is that is depends on your machine if your machine has a bad soundcard then the midi sucks. If want a Midi to sound the same as when it was created they should use Mod. I love the new music.

Yes well I was thinking now, the Lineage team probably has an outstanding Midi program thus they can create neat sounding songs. I was thinking if they recorded these songs onto the next Lineage CD, the game could automatically run the CD Tracks while the game is playing. Sort of like Half-Life if you've ever played it. That way, it will still keep the high-quality Midi that NC Austin probably owns, and it also won't increase Memory needed for the computer (since the songs are played directly off the CD).

Only 30 mb ram? It says on the site you require 128 mb ram. My computer has 128 mb ram and when I run winamp or a firewall next to lineage the mouse will go jumpy.
