In Concept

CaptSturm started a post today in the LOA forum called "In concept" It basically is a post that tells you what NC-Austin is thinking about adding to the LOA server. He says that these are not promised updates just things they are thinking about adding. So don't start asking when these updates will be. He continues to say that he plans to keep providing us with info on what they are thinking about adding to the LOA server. Here is what he said might be added with some of his later comments added on.


1)Mermaid Set. It is a tunic and cap, crafted from blue cloth, sapphires, and magic gems. It is min level 15 and relatively low ac (cap=ac1, tunic=ac2). It will give +2mp regen, +10 mp total.  The set is able to be safely pluses to 4. Its meant for the magic casters and not so much the melee mages (they'll need the mithril set if that's the style of play they're pursuing). The crafter will be the Mermaid Princess.

2)Orcish Bow. It will be heavier, but has a + to damage, - to hit.

3)Fire Archers. Can see through polymorph, but have reduced damage. I'm concerned about the knights, but the damage should be low enough for a knight of reasonable level and AC to get by. (I'm kicking around to backup plans if this particular item doesn't work out)

4)Bael Zaer (Mage Quest Rat Boss). Has a small light radius.

5)Scroll of Teleportation: Orc Town. Some orcs can drop an escape scroll that will take you to orc town. (rare drop) This are just sort of test run--if they work out we can expand this type of item(Add more Towns) Orc Town was chosen first because of the new Tournament Arena and to try and boost the income for the Orc Fortress.

6)Magic Crystals. Some monsters may drop magic crystals. These are similar to a mage's inscribed scroll, but are already enchanted (This means they already have a spell on them) They may be level or class restricted. (We're begining with a Spell Crystal:Light and Spell Crystal:Shield, all classes/all levels)

7)Orc Armor Set. Restricted to max level of 20. It will morph players into Orc Fighter when full set is equiped. When implemented this will be a temporary change and we'll evaluate its impact on game play before determining if it is a viable long term change

8)Wizard's Cap (E-bolt). Maximum Level limit of 8. The thought is that by making the e-bolt cap unavailable at a level where they have access to Siriss (and the lower prices she charges for the spells) would save mages some money. Plus, the regen rate on SI is boosted, so it graduates the player to the mp cost requirements of spells.

I really feel like the Wizard cap for 1 MP ebolt is already "nerfed" enough by it's weight.. FOUR HUNDRED. This thing weighs almost as much as an Iron set... I think that's a fair trade-off for a cheap ebolt... not sure why they want to keep making it less helpful than it is. After all, we're not talking Firestorm Cap or anything... Please leave it as a HEAVY but useful tool.

just let the wizard cap stays with the mage till level 10 -.-;
don't have to be THAT far, 2 more levels won't make much different
they can't do alot better with one more sp anywayz

Wow This is refreshing. If they had global I think that I would actually play LOA. Even though I have high level characters on Ken. The reality is they will get old soon enough, but LOA sounds like a new game and thus the fun may be back.

Time to reevaluate LOA I think.

Oh and to all of you who post "these are dumb ideas" they are ideas. Some will like others won't but they are not dumb, just different. Luckily your opionion will not stop those who like LOA.

#1 - Useful to use whenever you want to regen mana faster and dont feel threatened much. Or to just Regen mana faster when not in battle.

#2 - Actually more usefull as a bow, sucked before.

#3 - implemented to Keep low lvl mages from Powerhunting Fv and getting really high, really fast.

#4 - Light radius meaining it looks like he has a candle on all the time, Will make him easier to Spot.

#5 - Good Idea, Scroll of Escape:Orc town, Hope they add em to other towns if implemented

#6 - Usefull For knights, somewhat by prince and elf, little by mage.

#7 - Orc fighter would be a pretty good morph for low lvl knights and Str elfs/prince(ss

#8 - I see where there headed by not wanting high lvl mages to get the bonus, but id prefer them keep the newbie wis cap the way it is

All in all these are pretty good ideas

How can fire archers seeing thru sosc be an idea anyone can like?

Well if someone like that idea then im sure they'll like this idea:

Make ALL mops in Aden see thru sosc that have a nose. I can see that fire eggs cant sniff your stink out but what about fire warriors and other unfriendly fv mops?

Great Thing about fire archer see through sosc... it will stop all those lvl 4-20 mages hunting fire eggs for fast exp.... it skinda boring when you have a lvl 5 trying to theif some exp and you hit them once to tell them off but you kill them and turn chao....

Great .. FV's gonna rock... fv isn't suppose to be easy its suppose to be hard and the beach is quite easy actually!!!!
So good thing!!!

Orcish bow and orc set..... bah man.... I dunno why NC Austing are bothering on something as useless as that.. oh well... maybe someone likes that set lol:)

YA FV IS GONNA ROCK WITH FIRE ARCHERS SHOOTING DOGS AND SUMMONS BECAUSE THEY CANT GET TO THIER TARGET SINCE THEY ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CLIFF BUT THE DOG IS CLOSER TO THE FIRE ARCHER. HAHAHAHAHA SUCH A GREAT IDEA!
Also, anyone reading the boards already are most likly over level 10-20 so these new sets/items will do nothing for them. Oh yah spell crystals! First off, hardly anyone uses spell scrolls in the first place. Secondly, NO ONE uses the light spell or shield spell, or any other level 1 spell for that matter. Laterns arnt that heavy, light hacks weigh even less!
Orc set, good luck getting the set as a drop before your level 20, unless your an elf of course! If you are a true newbie, I doubt you will be able to afford to buy all the pieces from the npc, much less know about the set.
+ to damage but - to hit on an orc bow? Better be some + to damage, but I doubt anyone will use it.
Making bael zear yell would be better then giving him a stupid light radius. A rat man kinda sticks out anywas... whats a light source gonna do?

No more ebolt cap = more mages crying. No thanks!

#17 he also said fire archers wont do as much dmg, and there giving mages yet another set which looks pretty good even tho its low ac... .. i think that fire archer thing is a good idea, now we dont have to worry about low lvl mages taking up mops

The only idea I really don't like is #8. Unless NC is planning on bringing the INT mp bonus to LoA the cap should stay. If they don't bring the INT bonus then the +2mp regen bonus on that mermaid set won't be nearly enough.

and may I just say one more thing......

the spell crystals really bother me. EVERYONE gets earth skin. No one will ever want to use a shield spell when they can get -4 ac by simply asking an earth elf.

An orc set is not hard to get before lvl 20....i agre, a true newb would have problems gettin it by huntin, but my first time on lin by the time i was lvl 12 i had got the set numerous times over cuz ppl just drop it on the ground.

the point to the + orc bow is so there is some purpose to it. before it was just - to hit, making it completely useless. This way there is a midpoint between the elf bow and the short bow.

i think capt mentioned other sets...

the bone set is good enough as is for ac for a newb, so he wanted to add something that would make ppl choose between the bone set and orc set, or just so some ppl use the orc set. (its not like many low lvls can afford polys:))

i dont think people would make a switch from bone to orc..
bone set= -2ac total, +10 hp 210 weight.. or
orc set= 3 ac total, orc fighter morph, 340 weight.. well, if orc chain is part of orc set, 1ac total.. i think they should make each orc item +1 more, just to make it worth it.

chum, the point to the set is for a free morph (less monsters aggresive towards them)....no true newbs can afford to constantly have polys when they hunt.

actualy, when they started the thread suggesting this i was one of the ones who said i would like a set like this...before capt commented on it.

Why? cuz there is plenty of places i like to lvl at a lower lvl that morph helps, giran dungeon and elf dungeon for 2 of them

these are all good updates focused on lvl 10-30

only reason why there are lvl 48-50 players are because they have been playing for a long time and know what to do where to hunt and how to blow

but as lineage continues to grow there will be more players lvl 10-30 that apear and just can't keep giving high lvl player uber stuffs or there will be no balance in the game

Concerned about the strongest character in this game...? Worried about the majority of people who get to level 52...? Concerned that the knights might have to actually work a little?

First of all - Knights are not the only melee based characters. This frustrates me to no end that everyone seems to forget about the Prince/ss class. It is clear that the royals are not good fighters/casters/rangers, but could that statement have made it even more obvious? I understand 100% that the royals should not be boss killers or tanks or the mainstay of a battle group, but to have complete disregard for the class altogether is, for lack of a better term, "racist". Everyone thinks they have it so tough to level a mage, elf or (now with this statement) a knight. That is complete ignorance. You know why Marak is the only level 52 Prince in this game? Because he is dedicated and put in more hours of gameplay than any other person to get to that level. All royals have to work harder than any other class - PERIOD!

I for one do not have concern for the knights in FV if Fire Archers see through poly. I am also not saying to make the Prince/ss class stronger. Do not mistake this post. What I would like to see is the royals get more bonuses and actions for leading and participating in battle. This is not to say that when I am against a knight, of my same level, in battle that I should win – but rather that their should be some bonus or "intimidation" factor to the fact that I am a player of royalty. My troops should get some bonus for participating under my lead (more so than the current bonus that is "rumored" to be in play now, cuz I sure the hell haven't seen it). A radius of leadership could be in place around a Prince/ss during wartime or sieges that boost a BP members stats or some such, because they are next to their Prince/ss. I don't think this is a generic statement when I say, "We would fight harder and with more determination if we were standing right next to our leader in battle."

Bottom line — the Royal Class is the most overlooked, weakest and poorest excuse for anything other than a figure head of a Blood Pledge. However, I will continue to play it because if you want to be in a castle, you gotta follow one of us. I just want to see more of a reason to follow someone in this game other than castle ownership.

tamashii - I like the radius idea. Most recent games make use of a leader-proximity bonus (Age of Mythology, C&C: Generals, Warcraft III). But I think your idea is in the works, NC-Korea still has a few prince spells they have yet to implement, I wouldn't be surprised of there were one or more "bonus to all pledge members on the screen" spell.

it's way too hush having a few fire archer attacking toward a lvl 45+ knight -.-; just hurt so much
the purpose is to stop mages to power level up anywayz, just make them aggro to mage like black knight aggro to prince(ss) =P

ok, ummm some of these comments are utterly retarded. and the mage-only aggro? i thought knights could take MORE hits than mages. i think that aggro fire-archers are not a bad idea, just not the best. FV does need some changes but im not sure that aggro archers are the right change. but if they do less damage then it might not be so bad. maybe make fire warriors aggro to sosc? i dunno, just an idea. i think the wiz cap should be at least usable until lvl 16 when u get more SP. if you are anything other than a 18 wis mage, you run out of mana real fast even with the wiz cap. so, i think wiz cap should be max lvl 16 or 20. at 20, 24, and 28 u start getting much better spells anyways.

i agree 100% tamashii. great stuff you said.
