A Memorial to a Fallen Friend |
Please note that this was written late September and is only now seeing the light of day outside of the internal forums.
I signed onto Lineage expecting to see myself in Giran Castle, Shaolin was scheduled to siege and a win was expected... instead I logged on to find myself in house. I thought to myself, what happened why didn't we win? I now wish that our reason of loss never happened.
Today (or yesterday depending on your timezone) Lineage lost itself a fine player. Not to anything NC threw at him but to something far more devastating. The young man who played the character XxGlitchxX died in a tragic car accident. His death was announced to the Lineage world by his younger brother, and details were slow to come in. From what is currently known Glitch dropped his girlfriend off and while exiting, backed into the path of her father's tractor, crushing his car. It's a funny thing what death brings, obviously all that knew him well are mourning the loss of a good friend... but there is more to it than that. Me, Ramada, and several others decided to host a memorial service in Giran Center. Expecting the usual apathy that is shown to most people regardless of the reason we all figured that the turnout would be poor. As one can see from the screenshot of everyone in a line, all fell behind our cause and our reason... For once in my Lineage life I saw Giran Center cleared... Even our enemies joined in the mourning ceremony. The turnout was odd though, most of the people did not know Glitch but grieved and showed support just the same... Later in the day another memorial ceremony was held, this while not as organized or as solemn it was impressive quite the same.
I don't know but I think the point I am trying to get across is that we should not fight over petty differences and little things. Lineage is just a game and what happens in the game really doesn't matter... What really matters is the people we love and live with and how important they are to us. And finally, please people, I beg of you, treat others like there is the chance that you will never see them again... The pain that one feels in not having said goodbye is just... I said nothing to Glitch the last time he said he was signing off... I figured he would be back again... If any of you have any thoughts, memories, or condolences for Glitch please e-mail me at Gorefiendk@aol.com.
Finally, I must try to bring a little closure to this for I did not get to say goodbye. Glitch: me, the rest of Shaolin and all your other Lineage friends will miss you with such magnitude that words cannot convey the feelings. To the family of our lost friend, the whole of Lineage gives their condolences to your loss and we all wish Glitch good luck in that great Lineage in the sky. Thank you.
