Lineage Part II roadmap

Lineage Playforum posted an interview (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051003&kid=2032) where NCSoft revealed dates for the six episodes in Part 2, as well as what people can look forward to. We'll start referring to the episodes as "Part II Episode 1" instead of "Episode 13" from now on.

Episode 1 - Light and Shadow (Jul 2003)
Introduce Dark Elf Class, floating island, Elixir (an item which permanently raises a stat point, cannot break the stat cap of 25 base, can use this item 5 times)

Episode 2 - Sky and Earth (Nov 2003)
Dark Elf underground world, increase quality of graphics

Episode 3 - Life and Death (summer 2004)
Career system, skill system for different classes, add dark elf area "Diod", new siege system

Episode 4 - Sun and Moon (winter 2004)
Introducing the Underworld. Lastabad? is the Dark Elf capital of the underworld, with a castle, this will be the biggest update for part 2.

Episode 5 - King and Pretender (summer 2005)
Gran Kain giant temple, Dark Dragon, end of the pretender king's story

Episode 6 - God and Human (winter 2005)

Well Item use = 1 stat point item go away. But you can only increase stats up to 5 times using this item.

there are 6 dragons in the Lineage history the light dragon I don't think will ever be in Lineage since Im guessing its a good dragon.

elixir a rare drop? you think? this doesnt sound kick-it sounds sick! all the work we do to get 1 measly stat point at level 51 and along comes an item that will give someone 5 stat points? i thot nc wanted to always try to keep the game "balanced". this will make some near godmodeuber characters from those who already are uber characters.

elixir= uber babo idea, very stupid....makes everyone's hardwork in lvling useless, nc want everyone who is not a con or wis char to remake their characters...since elixir dosent raise mp or hp, everyone gonna be con or wis now...and use elixir, this takes out variety, no fun when there aren't any variety in char making...

lol... all you who say whats the point of int and str chars: you can only use the item once, and you can use elixer's only up to 5 times. -_-;; the best int you could get then, would be 17 int, the best str... im not sure, been awhile since i had an open spot for a knight, but you get my point.

i would rather have lvl 48 int/wis mage with 5 elixers to rase it to 23 int base, + int book and int ammy, id kick your ass with 25 int :)

to all you other ppl: its most likely a very rare drop from a dragon maybe or from a very hard to reach boss. (like toi boss's)so it most likely wont be very common, and wont affect you uber lvl 51+ ppl, except you could use them yourself. also, you all most likely will be the ONLY ones who will be able to get the elixers, because no low level char can make it to that boss. (most likely) so stop complaining. -_-

and if you don't want to use them, im sure somebody would buy them off you for a hella lot of money. X_x

Imagine this, someone gets 5 elixers and starts a brand new con knight, then adds the points with the elixer in strength at lvl 1. That would be pretty amazing. Knight that hits hard as all hell, and has lots of hp, ultimate for hunting bosses.

sweet elixir of the gods.... the one thing I always wished for was a way to increase a few stats before hitting 51 - I thought it would be cool if you could chose a stat each 10 levels, so that everyone (read: casual gamers) could toy with stats a bit without have to play heavily for years.

For those who complain that they wasted time to get to 51, what the heck are you talking about - you'll get to use these too, and still have better stats than lower level players... chances are you'll be the first ones using them as you'll get them as drops and be better able to afford them - after that you'll be selling them to us 'inferior' players...

Heck, this will allow high level players who feel they messed up their stats a chance to try to correct them - it allows all mages who complain about having 2 summons to use 2 elixirs to get 10cha so they can summon 3 if they want... cha princes can put some power into str or dex... and it's limited to 5 uses, so it's not like you can keep increasing forever - you have to get to 51+ to do that.

I wonder how long before someone tries using 5 elixirs on a level 1 character to make a super-con character - didn't Light or someone in Korea show that con above 18 does affect hp level-up gains...?

the HP with items
my guess is probably 1000+ HP
the knight will be a boss
plus your HP regeneration rate will be amazing
u wouldn't even need pots and just rest for a few seconds

but like I said before
I say Lich drops it VERY rarely
heck
even our US servers don't have a Lich Robe yet
I bet u that group on Ken server that hunts ToI all the time will get it first

Elixir not good I think, it will make classes all go for con or wis. mage will use 18 wis to use elixir on int, elf will use 18 con and use elixir on dex, knight will use 18 con and use elixir on str, prince will not waste an elixir...
Unless it is very rare...

they will probly make it a quest item for like 55 or 60 i mean think, from lvl one use an elixer wen u get to 50... well... yeah... like NC would alow that
it would be like putting an ancent sword and -60 ac on a lvl 1 knite or giving disintagrat to a lvl 1 mage think about it

I think most of U are jumping the gun and complaining about the elixir. Let's wait and see the details about it before we start whining... Most likely it'll be very rare and probably non-transferable. But if U can transfer it, I'd make a new DE, go to phantasm island, lvl up, and then kick all ur booties!!! =)~

I think the implementation of the elixir could be very nice indeed.

(EDIT: Good point #42- there will probably be a level restriction on the use of the Elixir. If that is true, then there would be no real issues.)

First, I don't think low level players will be getting any elixirs for some time — especially at the start. If anything, even high level players (and I mean 50+) are going to be hoarding these or selling them. My guess is hoarding. Why? Because they will undoubtedly want to do what some of you have already mentioned. That being to create a new character with some insane stat, most likely Wis/Con because they affect your MP/HP gains as you level. Imagine a level 50 Knight that has a base CON of 23. At a rate of 50 hp (top end gain for leveling from 1-50) for each POINT in CON (18 CON yields a level 50 knight with a top end average of 624 HP – 17 CON yields top end average of 575 HP), there is a potential for a level 50 Knight with 23 CON to possibly have almost 900 HP. That's pretty incredible. Once they hit 52, they could have pumped those 2 remaining points into CON to get their 25 CON. Within about 5 more levels, you have level 52, 1000HP Knights running amok - before items. Who cares about how strong you are or your dexterity when nothing can kill you because you have so many hitpoints and regenerate them faster than they can damage you for.

Second, you can only use 5 Elixirs (from what I gather, that is a finite amount for 1 character). Once you have used 5 of them, the best you can do is sell them or hoard for yet another character. This seems like a nice balance to me in that you won't have people with all their stats pumped to 25 at level 1. Imagine that if we could use more than 5 Elixirs. Some fool creates a new character and chugs 1 billion dollars worth of Elixirs that he has saved up. He would start out as a God - putting the hurt on Bosses when he is level 5. No, I think putting the limit of 5 on them makes it a great item because now the average player now has the potential to experience the joy of increasing a stat before they are 51. Let's be realistic, the high levels are going to be the ones getting it and they are going to create new characters to use them on, unless they are WAAAAAY up there, in which case they may just use 'em on their current character. If I had a level 60, I don't think I would create a new character, but who knows.

LC - I think you guys need to adjust your Calculator for HP/MP gain. It will not allow anyone to enter a CON total of anything over 18 CON. As this new item will undoubtedly be used at least once to create a character with a CON/WIS higher than what you can initially create a character with.

I would like to see NC make a balance on the items, that increase your CON/WIS stats, and allow them to affect your HP/MP level gains. Example: Any item that increases your CON stat to any degree should be factored in when you level. If your CON base is 18 and you are wearing an item that is a +1 to CON, then if you are wearing it when you level, your HP gain will reflect that. In most cases, regeneration speed of Mana or HP is rather pointless as you are most likely not fighting at the time you are trying to regen. I don't think this should happen if a Spell or Potion is used to increase your stat temporarily.

I am very interested to hear more about the Career system. I very much like the idea of having a career, so-to-speak, in this game. As well as a skill system. All very interesting stuff coming down the pipe. What is the difference between the Underground World in L2EP2 and Underworld in L2EP4? If there is to be an end to the Pretender King's story, does that mean there will be an end to the need for a Prince class? Or will their story just evolve to accommodate.

So many questions, so much time before the answers become available...

Although this hasn't been confirmed, Elixir is a floating island item. I don't think it's dropped by Lich or forgotten island mops. My guess is that they are dropped by mop(s) on the floating island. Floating island mops can be very strong or very weak so it's probably not going to be easy hunting, but since there's no death penalty, who care?

They should have these elixers capped at every 10 levels, so there won't be lvl 1 uber con knights, and as an award for achieving each level milestone (okay... lvl 10-40 isn't really a milestone but that's an idea o.O)

#13, if anything it will probably hurt the 50+ chars, be cause they couldn't add those 5 to CON when they made their character.

Imagine a full con DE with 5 con elixirs... Weak offensively but good exp compared to all others..
