LoA SpotLight: The Road to Ruin
Prince Drad has been playing Lineage since Depardieu beta days, just before Pay to Play went into effect. Hailing from Quake II, and a clan called Ruin, this pledge leader has been around for a very long time indeed.

Lineage was not an instant love for our dear prince. When Quake II lost her flavor and Drad found himself searching for a new home, it took more than a second glance for Aden to catch his eye. But when she did, and when he stared into her cool gaze ... in Aden, he saw his Ruin.

Drad now lives in the Lands of Aden. Tiring of Dark Knights and Invisible enemies, and tiring even more of steep death penalties for unjust causes (such as lag and disconnection), he set his jaw and made a hard decision. Yes, he would bring Ruin to Aden's fresh new dimension. Let it begin!

Drad learned a few things on Depardieu. Burned out on hours of discussions in halls with nobles and dignitaries, haggling about who would rule which castle for how long, this prince learned he is more a man of action and less of words. He learned he does not take well to orders. That he couldn't give a flip about diplomacy. He learned he was ready to operate lean and mean.

This is a prince who is ready to rise on his own merits, and to spread Ruin throughout the land.

When asked if he found it hard to leave his riches on Dep, he replied not at all. "I didn't have billions. I gave things to my son, so I can get them back easily enough, but 1.8 million was fairly easy to walk away from."

Drad finds himself more than equal to his Depardieu counterparts. He has already surpassed himself in level of experience as well as in level of enjoyment. And yet he has mellowed in his years of rule. Where he used to revel in ending the Red, he now plays on a warning system (depending on mood and seriousness of infraction).

1: verbal warning
2: shots fired
3: ended over and over until you are level 10 and deleted and remade with new name

(skip to 2 if he is cranky)

When asked if he's learned any tricks along the way to Ruin, I thought I detected a sly smile under that mop of royal red hair.

He replied, "Take a beagle along on your hunt if you want to be alone and not have your drops stolen."

I patiently awaited the secret to a beagle's ability to clear the screen. Could it be that they are so fast that an enemy freeze-locks when attacked? No, it was something much more simple.

"They are so yappy," Drad continued. "I don't think anyone likes to hunt near them because of the noise."

:)

infared800.... i dont think thibz is flaming you personally, anyway his reply to you doesnt differ much from the way you replied to this spotlight.
There are more decent ways to express your criticism, and maybe then youll even be taken seriously!

I like the article and the fact that it isnt about someone turning 50 like most other spotlights.

This article is completely useless. The pledge is not one of the strongest, err sorry it is not even a medium one, it is just a substandard one. I did enjoy his Beagle comment, but unless the writer of the article was paid a huge amount of adena for writing it, I can't see why this appeared here.

P.S. it could also be that the writer is in that pledge, in which case, his ethics are very misplaced.

Strelok, you better mind your manners. Here over at Lineage Compendium, they do their work for FREE! If you don't like the articles, leave. Personally, I enjoyed it very much. Great job LC!

LC feels there is more flavor to the lineage community than just lvl 50+ people. lvl 50+ is cool, and we always love to spotlight such achievements, but it isn't the only achievement in game. personally, i could sit and listen to some of these two-year-plus lin veterans for hours.

Level 50 is not the only purpose of Lineage.

Making friends, winning castles, a good fight, hunting an area until you're an expert on it, making +ed items, being a regular chatter on global, mastering a boss and more -- There are a lot of other things to do. The spotlight section is to meet the other people who play this game. We use the main news page for amazing accomplishments.

I think some of you guys are a little closed minded. I enjoy reading spotlights on all sorts of different people. I could care less what level they are and I'm sure many others see it the same. Sometimes their experiences (no matter how long they be) are far more interesting than a spotlight on someone for hitting the big 5 0. For those who made comments along the lines of "this is stupid", I want you to know... I am very thankful that I'm not as narrow-minded and self-centered as you. Good work, October. I found the spotlight very interesting =)

I have nothing again LC and or Spotlights in general, but I would much rather hear about FC or 2Soon or Mercs or someone that has somehow distinguished themselves. And no I am not in either of those pledge, as the matter of fact I have repeatedly battled different people from those pledges.

XCollicoX my manners are just fine, I think we are still entitled to our own opinions. The writer felt like the prince deserved the spotlight, I feel that he didn't.

Amer I don’t care about what level, but I feel that people in Spotlight should have something to teach, which is why Beagle was a fine comment.

1: verbal warning

3: ended over and over until you are level 10 and deleted and remade with new name
wouldn't that be exaggerating? i don't feel threatened by it at all.. then again i'm a nice guy..

You should understand that Lineage can't be all about all the "upper class". There's gotta be a way for the newcomers to feel like they mean something and have a prospect of having a great future in lineage.

On another note...is it me..or there just doesn't seem to be much news from NC lately......

Nice article I enjoyed it. For all those people who thinks this was a waiste you shouldn't be flaming it, you aren't forced to come to this site and read the article. They sound like a very interesting pledge but definatelly not a mainstream pledge like Best of Lineage, Mercs, FirstClass

Personally, I've never liked the Spotlights/articles that are written like stories. And there's no real way to tell who will have a castle and for how long. That depends on the players. I think there should be some sort of requirement to get a Spotlight, but I can't imagine what it should/would be.

oi~!..Drad here (but go by many names)

ok some clarification.. I have played every character in this game for over 2 years, I chose the prince to take pics of, cause I wanted elf to stay in hunt mode...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
the warning was directed to drop/mop thiefs, and was a comment made in my elf mindset. hope that makes sence. Prince has not yet been chaotic, but there's still hope.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for interviewer being in love with me ??? are u insane ???
But rare is a question asked within my earshot, that I wont offer an answer for.. and perhaps with all the typing I do, chatting, answerring n00b questions at momma tree, perhaps the interviewer saw me as interesting enough to be interviewed..
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sure we're not a mainstream pledge like ones mentioned above.. btw FC on LoA is disbanded. BUT the few people we do have are always there to help each other out, like any other pledge.

Currently we are in Hunt Mode (Prince/Princess have houses). we are slowly getting bigger, but not huge, with people coming and going all the time... most that join, stay.. and prosper as we all do, together.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally as for the beagle.. you will never see a beagle on this prince. again, it was an observation I made while hunting with my elf.. I accidentally tamed a beagle.. and for a laugh I thought to lvl him up in the desert with my dobe, and later added a husky...
Anyway.. hunting desert. I see a scorp come in and I shot arrows at it.. dogs go in, and start chewing.. out of the corner of my screen a mage w skel guards comes into view.. he turns and quickly runs off... not paying much attention to it, I continued hunting..
After an hour or so, I realized that everyone that happened into my screen while beagle was chewing, tuned around and b-lined it as far away from me as possible. this is when I realized, it was the dog. I didnt have to worry about mop thiefs, the horrid yapping sound of the beagle chased them all away for me.. :) thus renderring the warning system irrevelent.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ok, enough typing.. editing will never happen, if I got lost on a train of thought, or went off on a tangent, and never returned to the point...
Oh well! "Adapt 0.0"

Well, I for one say, "Way to go, neighbor!!"
I'm still working on getting that block party together - lol.

To everyone else: sure, his BP may not be huge or grand or even mildly feared as an Anti-PK BP, but who cares, he is a character in this vast world of ours and he makes an impact on our server, regardless of how small. As for being deserving of the time to interview — I say, "Yes." It is up to the reporters in LC to interview whomever they wish. Just because you don't know him doesn't mean he shouldn't get an interview. Half of the people in Aden are unsung heroes. How many of you know me and my BP (HoG)? Probably not a whole heck of a lot, but that doesn't mean we are not having an impact on the game.

Overall, some of these complaints are a bit unfounded. The opinions would certainly change if the complainers were given a Spotlight, hehe.

*EDIT* He owns Giran currently - my mistake.

They snuck into the castle, and came out in force.

At the last second the tower fell,
the prince got the crown,
we got teleported into town,
the chat window showed "The Siege is over!"

"#&*@)!"

Still, tons of fun for a tuesday afternoon. :-)
