LoA Mini-Event

CaptSturm spoke of a Mini-Event he was testing on the LoA server, which is actually kind of interesting (it made it's debut in Korea a few months ago). Here is his summary of the event:

We'll be testing three new NPCs on LoA that will sell "illusionary" items. The illusionary items are armor, sword, and bow. They will only last for 5 hours after time of purchase. They will also disappear if you reconnect to the game (quit/restart or disconnect). The NPCs selling these items are all named Illusina and are located near Oren.

Also available are "illusionary" scrolls of enchant armor and weapon. These will only work with the illusionary items. This is not a permanent addition to Lands of Aden Server, but just a temporary test. They may be removed at any time.

The items for sale are the Bow of Illusion, Sword of Illusion and Armor of Illusion. There is also a Scroll of Enchant Armor Illusion and Scroll of Enchant Weapon Illusion. The reasonable prices are 300 for the armor, sword or bow and 100 for each scroll. The NPCs are located in Oren. The armor, weapon and bow enchant just like the normal nzel/ndai would, however the price is low because of the temporary nature of these items. And yes, you can blow them. :)

Thus, at a minimum you can have -11 AC for 700a, a 16/16 weapon for 900a or a +6 bow for 900a. But why stop there?

The event was originally aimed at new players who don't have enough money to try to make an elite weapon. However, I think veterans of Lineage will enjoy it as well. (Hey, if you like Yammie's Baboage game, this should be right up your alley.)

Needless to say, we would love to see the best item you could make, so make sure you take a screenshot before you log out or your 5 hours is up. ;) Pictured is Nannaya's +11 Sword of Illusion, Hoggle's +10 Bow of Illusion and Arachnevil's +9 Armor of Illusion.

A fun thing to do, and a cheap way to have a good weapon for a day. 900a gets you a +6 sword or bow for 5 hours. Very nice for young characters who don;t have full enchants yet.

this sucks...O.o I spent 20k blowing items most scrolls say Nothing Happened and disapear and most swords blow at +5 however I did make +8 armor which I soon blew right after enchanting so....money waste or....something else...:\....later..oh ya by the way they don't even do real dmg +7 Sword does about 10 dmg.

well, the items are good, i made +8 armor and +7 bow, and hunting with them now on ti north, the bow is good but it doesnt compare to even a +5 yumi, because of the yumi's damage bonus. it is very good and is helping me alot, and is doing what its supposed to! help me out until i can afford the real deal

just to play devils advocate here on illusion item mage benefits;

mage can use a 9 hit gradius or a 8 hit silver with undead bonus.
hardly worth a 10 for 5 hours at a time especially with soft ac.

I agree the bow is very sweet, as long as you can orc scout morph.

nobody dia's a gradius.

it's the best starter weapon for a melee mage

once a melee mage can afford a +6sls or +6sof
they will probably stick with that.

so i guess that illusion sword would serve
a melee mage well during the week the mage
could not afford a +6sls yet...

now this is interesting and a great idea in my opinion

ep 12 isn't even in testing in korea, that is the least to worry about
forgotten island, still having problems in live servers in korea I think, we'll be seeing that soon

and can't forget LoA is from NC in north america.....
so the US team is focusing on that, but...
we better get forgotten island, before the yr ends hopefully
we need new challenges dammit!

if LoA is gonna be completely separate from live servers
how r they gonna keep track of maintaining dep&ken+test+loa..
vail is right...
considering we know how NC works, this won't look good to us

I believe loa should just be the test server...wipes out once in awhile...
and u get so much adena and drops...
it really helps newbies in getting to know the game well
then when u're rdy, enter a real server which your data will be there forever...

I havn't had the chance to play LoA yet but from what i seen i think NC has some really nifty ideas...i wonder which of these ideas is going to come to main servers?hmm.... I think this one would be really helpful to newbies at start because 70k to buy a real dai,or even 30k a zel for that matter,is just too much for lower lvls so this is a good start for them to get used to dai'ing a zeling weapons and armor.

And its better for a newbie than him running around w/ a orcish set and a scimitar o.o

I thought NC Austin's excuse for not fixing, or making lots of different things on our live servers was that they had a lack of programmers....LoA must just come pre-programmed eh NC?

they have programers, its just Korea bosses them around..

Vail, wise up. NC Korea makes the updates, send themto NC Austin and NC Austin implants them. For the new server they already mentioned that updates may come sooner/later/not at all; it depends on whether or not it works with their US aim

We do not game with the same intensity or style as Korea so they need to change their targets around. This is good, people. Go complain on a bad update post.

it's no bug, NCSoft isn't that stupid.

it give players a choice to be MOP hostile or not.
they're just too lazy to program in another method
of how to indicate your preference.

also keeping you MOP hostile till you restart
makes using maples a more effective weapon.

ex, when I hunted ant caves as a low 40s mage I hated when I got d/ced and came back with unaggro ants. Though I do agree that they should have another method; maybe a games option like the elf night vision

Also I dont think it was NC intent to make it this way...
The only reason I can think of why some mops cant see morph, is because they are just too stupid to recognize its a player, why would restarting suddenly make u unrecognizable to some mops? (if you could put it off again, I might call it a feature)

So my opinion is the player should make a choice, morph or no morph, but not in between doesnt make sense.

I know someone named nuwb..his story..
nuwb's happily hunting in giran2f with his brand new skel morph...
but suddenly while whacking on a lyc his morph runs out...
nuwb thinks, ah np I morph again!...
while scrolling thru the morphhlist (he never used skel morph so he still doesnt know where to look very well)..he didnt see those 2 owlbears coming from the left coz his list was over it...2 owls np for nuwb! he starts killing them but then 1 lyc arrives...and another one...and some ghouls walking slowly but sure towards him...in a matter of seconds hes surrounded by many mops!..
he freaks out...while looking at his hp bar going down he tries to find his escape key coz his reds cant keep up with the damage!...and then SPLAT, nuwb is dead....and why? all because he couldnt restart.

For those who want to know what happend to nuwb after that...very sad...he tried again but gave up and quit :(

Do you guys know how hard it is to get 200k on LoA? - except for knights (doh) LoA is very much like a live server - I disaggree with that. I think it should be more like test, or even BE test. Test IS where you test new stuff is it not? NC, quit making excuses for why you have so little customer support.
