Dante's Story #1 |
I woke up this morning, cleaned my Elven armor, my Yumi bow, and
gathering my waffers and Healing Potions. Then I left Orc Town and I
went out into the forest thinking it would be an easy day. I thought
that I could just find a small group of Tribals and get their totems and
hopefully an amulet. As I walked along, past the tress which were
growing more numerous by the second, I felt like someone or something
was watching me from the growing shadows. I thought to myself, "There is
nothing here, I am not far enough into the forest to find a few
Tribals". Oh, how I wish that I was wrong. Oh, I was being watched all
right. In the darkness a pair of red eyes gazed at me as it drew back
an arrow and aimed for my head.
The next thing I knew an arrow clipped off part of my Bless of Elm
and I was diving for cover under a fallen tree. Then I realized that I
was in Dark Elf Territory, my races outcasts. They are creatures so evil
that their skin has darkened and they will kill anything on sight. I had
no choice but to run. Then I remembered the Scroll of Escape I bought in
the City of Giran. As the Dark Elf shot another arrow right where I was
hiding, I quickly read the scroll and the next thing I knew I was back
in Orc Town. "That last arrow would have killed me!" I said aloud. I got
up and decided to send a letter to my Pledge mates. Soon enough two
arrived. We were glad to see each other again. I further explained my
dilemma and we began to prepare.
I had ten more Scrolls of Escape delivered to me, and I went to
retrieve my trusty dog, Hunt. We have both been in some incredible
situations before and we have all ways made it, even though sometimes we
make it out with our lives barely intact. He barked at me with joy when
he saw me and almost knocked me down. We wrestled playfully for a few
minutes then I let him pin me to the ground. After receiving several
friendly licks I got up and we were ready to go. Then we set out.
I was nervous, but my friends and my dog went on fearlessly ahead.
Soon the trees and the foliage became so thick that we were separated.
Hunt and I trudged on. Finally we came into a clearing. A large field
lay in front of us, with a wooden Fort in the distance. This was a good
place to hunt tribals, but I could hear the clashing of swords and the
dull "thock" of an arrow finding its target. "This place is taken boy,
back into the forest we go." As I said this I noticed that Hunt was not
looking at me or at the expansive field. He was growling at the forest.
Then I heard a twig snap and a clang of weapons behind me. I froze. I
slowly turned around to watch 30 or so tribals emerge from the shadows
of a forest. Behind them tress fell. It seem as if the whole forest was
alive! I stood in shock as I watched a Ogre come smashing through the
forest right next to a temple.
The temple was made of the bones of a great creature. It was not
much too look at. There was a floating red stone at one end of the
temple. It was one of the Chaotic Temples, like the one in the
wastelands. I looked at it for only a few seconds, when two arrows
landed at my side. I looked to see two Dark Elves in the cover of the
trees, standing in the shadows, putting another arrow on their bows and
aiming for us. "Run!" I shouted, and we ran as fast as I could. I soon
met up with my other Pledge Mates, as we all ran together 20 more
tribals appeared. We quickly gulped down a Haste Potion as we ran.
We managed to outrun the Ogre, Dark Elves, and about 15 tribals
when Orc Town came into view. As we ran through the entrance we all
shouted in unison "The Orcs are sieging! Everyone lock yourselves
indoors!". As we ran to the town center a Sorceress and a group of
Knights greeted us with swords and bows. We ran past them like they were
not even there. Hunt was in front of me, guarding me as I have guarded
him so many times. Then we charged the oncoming orcs and joined our
comrades in battle. Then we all dove for cover as the Sorceress summoned
up four tornados and blew the tribals away. Then suddenly a second wave
attacked, much larger than the first. But four more tornados blew them
to their doom.
We almost collapsed from the running and the intense battle. Hunt
and I exchanged glances as we looked at the corpses that littered the
ground. We had saved Orc Town from a siege evidently being planned by
the Orcs to overtake the humans. I said goodbye to my friends and brave
comrades as I read a Blessed Scroll of Teleportation and Hunt and I went
home to the Mother Tree in the Elven Forest where we nursed our wounds
and settled down for a good nights sleep.
