Trial Period Update

New Lineage accounts created from this point forward are eligible for a seven day free trial period. After the free trial period expires, billing will be applied to your Lineage account.

Question: If I’m currently in my trial period, will it be cut down to 7 days?
Answer: No. When we change the trial period, it will only affect accounts created after 2:00 PM Central US time on January 20, 2003. Accounts created prior to that date and time will have 30-day trial periods.

Question: Why are you lowering the trial period to 7 days?
Answer: When we increased the free trial period to 30 days over a year ago, we did so because we felt that potential Lineage players needed that amount of time to understand and experience Lineage before making a purchase decision. However, we’ve spent the last year adjusting our new player experience by releasing and updating the Talking Island and Hidden Valley game areas, as well opening the Lands of Aden server – a server designed specifically for players new to the Lineage world. We feel that with these changes to the new player experience, the learning curve of the game is not nearly as steep and gamers can make a swift, informed decision over whether the game is suited to their entertainment needs.

Sad to see how hard NC-Austin tries to make this game more newbie-friendly yet it does not prove to be successful. The amount of people playing on the US server barely increased...and now they are even lowering the trial period to 7 days...lol I personally wouldn't bother downloading such a huge file to just try for a week. Afterall, you would'nt get to know much about the game in a week anyways.

This seems unethical to me.... It's all about $$ though... Whatever reason NC had for doing this can be directly attributed to cash flow -.-

Well the reason they are doing this is obvious. They know 7 days is not enough for a new player to reach a good enough lvl to know all about the game so therefore they would have already been charged before they really found out about the game and in most cases quit.

Re: uselessmitch [#16]

When Giran came out isn't when pay to play started. Lin went commercial actually a little before. I remember, because I quit Lin when it went commercial, but then came back a little while later when Giran came out.

lin went commercial in may 2001

decreasing the trial period probably wont affect much...
30days is still...only give new players a peek at the bloodpledge, the community, and the players, the major theme for a mmorpg....

the 7days probably can get u to get used to the game basics, how to use the interface...it took me 7 days to know how to use the OLD interface...and took me quite a while to learn what the STATS that u cant change do to ur character...

haha....yammie.....good idea haha...

You know what I did with my first 7 days?
1st day - Looked around, went to north, said hi to skel, said bye to me. Turned off Lineage.
2nd day - Didn't play
3rd day - Didn't play
4th day - Didn't play
5th day - Didn't play
6th day - Didn't play
7th day - Didn't play

I think it was after a month or two that i realized that the game was fun if you had friends and stuff.. Frankly I don't see how 7 days will let you appreciate the ugly graphics and still want to play because of gameplay and friends. And besides, I like getting that free month when you start over again o_O

7 days? thats crappy.. So now a newbie can get lvl 8 before trying to decide if he wants to pay or not.. Lets see, my first 7 days of Lineage involved being pked many times, running around screaming from orcs and such.. and dying many times. I definetely wouldn't of paid for Lineage after them 7 days if it wasnt free back then.. then again i didnt even pay for it after several months of playing during beta.

I think 7 days is not enough for a new person to get the feeling of lineage in 7 days all u can really do is...die...die...die some more make a little bit of money hunt the newbie areas and not have a clue what ur doing...die again... talk to some npcs which dont help at all ,beg for some money for pots...die a few more times trying to get money after some ppl tell u to get it ur self...within a 7 day period most ppl in my opinion wouldnt pay to keep playing
with the difficulty of just starting which takes more than 7 days

7 days was the trial period pre-Lineage release (episode 10 or 11 I think). It does seem a bit bad to shorten it again though. Unless NCKorea allows NCAustin access to differ the Live US Servers (excluding LoA) they will get less customers now.

in Japan it is 15 days. and they have a variety of paying methods. you can pay to play by days, like 30/60/90 days, or by hours, like 10/20/30 hours.
I think NC better make it count by playing time, like 30 hours, for free trial.

NC Japan now introduce Yahoo! IM as an alternative way to communicate. talking rather than typing.

NC Japan is so high-tech @_@

ppl chill

7 days is enough

I think 30 days was too much
my friend usually created a lvl 48 knight in a week
then played and got better items
when it expired
got another credit card
and lvled another knight quickly to lvl 48 and continued playing lineage like normal
did it for 6 months
til he got bored of lineage and quit for good
some pros to the game do take advantage of the free 30 day trial

I think 7 days is too short for people who are new to tha game and havent learned the basics yet

The price to play this game should be only like 7 dollars month anyway. that would keep people from leaving a dying game.

usa is the only servers that DONT count by hours...

and do u know how the count by hours work?..

LOG IN ACC
select char
in game (counting starts)
LAG (counting continue)
LOG OUT ACC (counting stops)
quit game

besides...counting by hours is SO '90s.......

Hi everyone i am an OLD player (.77 server) and i was almost ready to play again on the LoA server because i have many good memories of Lineage, but this has stopped me from doing so. I agree with the person that said decreasing the price to 7$ per month. That would come to around 11-14 dollars canadian which I would happily pay to play lineage. But at its current price of 15$ US for this game, I think it was way to overpriced compared to other games on the market like Asherons Call 2, and soon coming big hits like Star Wars Galaxies and World of Warcraft.

If NC provides a sort of less complicated, lower costing MMORPGS like lineage, I think they may still stay in the market when the big hitters come. But at this price and the current level of the game, i dont think lineage will survive in the near future.

I played in beta for some day then quit, then go back when the old 7 [or 5 day i dont remember]days trial, and trust me in 7 days I was lvl 7 getting killed by everything with my stupid rolled mage, and near to quit every 10mins. Anyway those days game was kinda harder.
Lineage is dying? maybe. People that has been playing for years only stays if found really good friends in game or if they r near the goal [50-52] People that started one year b4 or less will not stay i think cause game is so unbalanced, what if u dont played on heine event, most of the people got like 20+ millions on that event, if u start right now, how the hell u gonna catch em?, if u cant catch other players...then there is no sense to play, no one likes to be weak forever. This game, intelligence has few to do against those who play 16-20 hours a day. Bah, im pretty pissed. >_<;;
