+10 Mail Breaker

Always impressed by +10 weapons, we were pretty excited to hear that ZzPzZ on Ken server has created a +10 Mail Breaker.

He said that he used a bdai on the +5 Mail Breaker and it only went to +6. He then just ndai'd it the rest of the way up until +10. Damn! This weapon is the true Dragon Slayer. ^^

i think i do -.-;
what does mb do for you other than the hit bonus.. xtra dmg against undead
thats only useful against dk.. u can use sls or rap for it..
thats got a better average dmg than other weapons, but still +7 sls does more dmg overall..
and knight get +1 hit bonus every 3 lvls remember -.-;

In response: Mail Breakers have a huge positive hit probability (+10), and thus many people use them for bosses.

umm orim its hard to hit most bosses with a sls or rap, so a +10 mb would be grate against them, + he would do good in a dragon hunt o.o

and orim u really dont know what u talking about and i can see u never hunt bosses cause rap or sls dont work on dk any more cant hardly hit with rap
some times its good to always hit and do little damge then miss ALOT and do good
damge more then that mb if u didnt knew used to hunt all bosses maybe if u are
lvl 52 then u can use btsu on beleth or so

-Orim-, did u ever hunt a boss? wouldn't u know that most people that hunt bosses are knights...and guess what? they wouldn't be able to hit a DK (lvl 52 and good ac) with a rap 1/4 and when they would be able to hit a DK it would do cr*p damage for 1/5+, considering a mail breaker gives you +10 hit bonus...i don't know if undead damage is still effective on DK because heal stopped working a long time ago...you would have the best damage ratio with an M-B that works for any other boss too, because guess what? a knight without a mail breaker would not be able to cause a high damage ratio to a boss which means you get cr*p drops, i'd wanna see you use a rap on DK and get something good. Anyways, i understand the guy...but why the heck would you blow a +10 mb...if you hunt DK, you would be able to own it and get every single good drop possible not to mention your group would own DK before it could do some kind of damage(200+ damage)...i'd say you would make that +9 yumi up in a week(if DK drops well enough). Selling it wasnt a good idea either....so maybe he was drunk O.o.

I think I remember reading on the official Lineage boards that after +10, it's nearly impossible to get +1 more. I'll see if I can find it.

Anyone remember this?

It was that after +9, the ratio is no longer 1/3 to get +1, it's 1/3 for it to not blow up, then 50/50 chance to go +0/+1, so 1/6 chance +1, 1/6 chance +0, 2/3 chance of blowing it.

Mel said that chance to overdai weapons is 1/3 until +9. At +9 and higher changes are 1/6 to go +10, 1/6 to stay +9 and 2/3 blow. After +9 it gets harder but not impossible!!

I don't believe a high level knight needs a MB to take on DK. Now, I haven't actually done so myself (I don't have time for camping very often) but on LC DK is listed as ac -52. This is only 2 better than Death (at -50ac) and I rarely miss Death with my Rapier.

AFAIK all characters get +1 to hit each level with knights getting an additional +1 every 3 levels. This gives a level 48 knight a base to hit of +64, with any weapon bonus on top. The +10 to hit is great for power leveling low level characters but is of less use to high level characters unless they are going after dragons (with ac -8x/-9x).

It would be nice to know for sure whether DK is undead for purposes of wepaon damage. If I ever get to fight him I need to know :)

EcKs. I have never heard a claim that the level of the target affects the hit chance before. From the veteran questions that Mel gave us:

"Question:
True/False: When you swing or shoot at an enemy, the probability of you landing that hit is based Only on this list: your dex, your level, enemy ER and enemy AC.
Answer:
False. It is also based upon weapon enchantment (a 6 weapon has a 3 to hit), and weapon hit bonuses, and your strength.
It is also based upon your encumberance level. If you are less encumbered, you have a better chance to hit."

There is no mention of level here, and my experience is that it is not a factor.

Well, time to go hunt DK I guess, to find out!!!! ^^

Arbor im sure if your higher lvl you can hit monsters better... For example... I have 2 Knights on Test. One was 45 one was 15... The lvl 45 with the same ac as the lvl 15 could HIT bks... The lvl 15 one could not... You answered your question already... Higher lvl characters have higher + hit Bonus thats why if your higher lvl you can hit things better

arbor go make a lvl 5 char and go try to hit skeletons with a +6 rap. you will miss like a mofo. now go lvl to like 10~12 and go back. you will hit them like 90%. this is why mailbreaker is one of the greatest weapons in the game. my lvl 5 knight with +0 mb owned skeletons, and therefore hit max lawful and lvl 22 (approx) VERY quickly, and that was with a boneset, +0 cop, and +0 boots. and yes it was con knight. mailbreaker is pretty much the ultimate weapon for hunting upper ivory tower floors as well, as well as the demon. +8 bkat didnt do shit against him, and therefore the poor mb wielders too all the damage, because they were dealing all the damage.

Collector, switch to +6 sls around lv 8 if ur str knight and u can hit them 90%
I did it with my char and lvled to 37 in 30 hours of playing(most boring time i ever had).. mb isn't the best weapon.. its only as good (roughly speaking) as like a +3 tsu.. the hit bonus is a must for mages tho..

Arbor they did say in the vet questions a few months back that every class get +1 to hit every few levels.. all i know is knights get +1 every 3 levels, but i think elf get +1 every 5 and prince every 8. mage does not get any.

1 other boring thing to say: I think they should be able to 'merge' specific weapons,(it sounds stupid, i know). What i mean is that you can get 2 weapons to become one(and all their properties)by.. using a scroll i guess...

eg:You can have a Som(mana drain, -3hit bonus) and a mb(+10 hit bonus, xtra dmg agaisnt undead) to get a som(mana drain, +7 hit bonus, xtra dmg against undead)
sorta like that.. maybe have a safe merge limit of 2 weapons into 1..
Anyone like my stupid idea can post reply here and we can send a message to NC for this idea. I know they will come up with answer 'we will be looking into this' they never do -.-;

You both misread my comment! I know MY level matters - as my post said! My claim is that the level of the TARGET doesn't matter. In other words my chance to hit a level 25 MOP which has ac -50 is the same as my chance to hit a level 50 MOP with ac -50. This is supported by the quote from Mel in my previous comment.
