Episode 12 NPCs

Source: Lineage Playforum (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=3183):
Registering with a town costs level * level * 50 adena. So, a level 44 player has to pay 96800 adena to register with a town. Once they are registered, the registration process takes a month! So, choose your town carefully, it's a big committment.

Purchasing your experience back after you die is not cheap. If you are under level 46, it seems to cost level * level * 250 to regain 6%. However, level 46 and higher cost much more. For example, 6% at level 47 costs 820k. However, you get more bang for the buck at higher levels (see discussion below).
If you're wondering about taming a Husky (the new dog), there's a bug on the Korean Test server where a successful tame turns it into a shepherd. However, initial reports put it in with beagle and doberman in terms of speed. No word yet on its strength.
Those of you who are mathematically inclined may be thinking in terms of adena per experience point. Hypothetically, at level 5, it costs about 160 adena per experience point. Up to level 45, this value decreases until it's about 23 adena per XP point. (Still not worth it). At level 47, it's about 4 adena per XP point. When we get more information about what the higher levels costs, we'll extrapolate more, but it definitely appears that the price does not go up as fast as the experience lost.

The advantages of being part of a town is not clear yet :( They said something about each town having benefits, but they don't say what.

and can u just buy the exp? if u can, that just ruin everything
richasses can get to lev 50 in 1 day..--;well...thats too rich..^^*
but 1 pledge combine all adena to push 1 guy to 50, that possible..o.o especially talking about test server players

buying exp lol
ok, we all know that ain't happening
NC isn't that stupid
but about gaining back exp from death
I wonder how it will work
u have to go to the priest right away after u die
or anytime as long as u died during your current lvl?

let's wait and see how the high lvl costs will be

the benefits for each town
only benefit I can think of
maybe cheaper pot prices?
or sell certain items to u at the store (for example: N-Zel for 30k but u can get it at the item shop instead of walking all the way to orim)
access to special areas? like ww ppl registered can enter ww dungeon thru some secret passage..
just hope it ain't something stupid like each day they give u 10 red pots after that long 1 month registration
or they could do that but as time goes by, they give u better stuff

who knows...
we'll see....we'll see....

No richasses can not get to level 50 in a day.
From that lvl 47 example, it would cost somewhere around
13,120,000,000 adena to get from 47-48... give or take a zero maybe? I dunno this whole thing is confusing T_T

Cerberus is 750 (aprox. exp. points...)
4 adenas per XP point = 3000 adenas...

¬¬' I won't pay 3K to replace the exp of a cerberus...
I don't like that is so expensive...
-------------------------------
Tell more about registration ^_^ what is it used for? it lasts only a month or takes a month to make it? u need to chosse a city?? IM LOST! :-?

Ppl with tag "never ended" need not apply.

Those who experience lag deaths will appreciate 6% xp which can eventually add up to another lvl.

When you're in dk/de morph your ac will probably also soon maxed out so where else would the extra adena go to? Besides the morph lets you kill so fast and spend so much less that 4 a per xp will be meaningless.

Well, lots of ppl say its too expensive for them to buy xp, but I think that I would, that is if I could keep up the pace on my knight as I did on my elf. By the time I'm 49 I feel like I could have -6x ac, which is more than enough for me to get to lvl 52 on, which is where I am headed, so the only other A/P I would have are pots, and my g/f (god she's expensive...) j/k hun ^^:;

Well the cost is really worth it if you have too much money on your hands... But lets be serious, who does have too much money on their hands? GM maybe T.T

The Hometown thing sounds like it will be pretty nice if it works out. The Husky is kinda like the Shepherd and the Doberman when they were put into the game. When they were new, if you tamed them, they turned into Wolves.

You can only buy xp after a death. People can't buy their way to lvl 52. If you have money, then dying is only a 7% lost at most. I think its well worth the money.

i like the xp thing u people who arent 49+ dont realize how much time is put into our chars, e buying 6% back from a death would amount to me saving 15-18 hours of stight huntting. So quit your whinning.

Hometown thing is probably just like having a house in that town. If you tele home or die, you will be in your "Hometown." --Just a guess o.o;

And buying back exp? Whats with the 6%? When we die we lose **13%** so at lv47, it would cost like 1.7m to get your exp back. -_-; That's ridiculous!

6% at my lvl = 1~2 days hunt

If i would have to pay 1m for 6% back i would NOT pay it, thats sjure
I would hunt those 2 days and MAKE adena instead..

Its some lame excuse for NCI to "help" us high lvl's... no thx NCI..

What NC should do is eliminate the experience point penalty from dying. What should happen is you are not allowed to respawn for maybe level*minutes. They also should ditch dropping items when you die and are not full law. Just my opinion.

Retro, that penalty is way too low. People would just spend the time on another character.

And... the paying for exp is very expensive. But it would offset being in a castle clan (the "half-kings," or the rebellers, often pk castle pledge members).

I don't think it is too low. Imagine dying in the middle of a pledge hunt, or a siege. Or on FI when all your buddies are going to leave. Or when you have been power leveling a single character for hours on end, and you only want to keep going and going.

It might encourage some of us to put down the mouse and take a breather once in awhile ;). And it is more realistic as to what really dying entails, which would really be removal from the "game".

I dunno. I guess if I ever create a game, I've learned a lot from Lineage on what not to do.

Ok, I think it sounds nice. Exp at high lvls is worth it. And one more thing, DO NOT BASH NCI FOR KOREAN UPDATES, nci is US only, has nothing to do with korea. Bash NCsoft, not nci.

yea buying exp is too expensive and yea its good for high level players..i personally wont buy it..but the town registry sounds really cool..i'm thinking...after tele home you end up in the town or restart..and maybe same bonuses as having a pledge house or being in a hotel? maybe there will be town wars lol..members from a town attacking members of a different town.

I personally believe that experience loss at level 49+ should not be the same as all levels. If this is their solution to making 1/2 of your experience back then i'm for it. However, it shouldn't cost anything over 100k-200k for that!! If the loss of experience is resonable it will allow higher level players to enjoy the game more instead of fearing death. Gee I'd love to go on a dragon hunt but it will never happen with my characters and I don't have any intentions on deleting and remaking new chars just to dragon hunt.

I've always been reluctant to attack anything higher level than me after I reached level 47 except maybe Ifrit or Drakes because as a Dex elf one hit can end me then oops more mithril arrows and wafers I have to get to make back the exp. I unfortunately have up to 2 hrs a day to play lineage due to obligations that NCSoft benefits from for me to PAY for lineage so anything reasonable in experience gain is acceptable.
----
I hope that the hometown thing will allow us discounts on pots or whatever.
