Troubleshooting Connections |
We have received reports from players experiencing trouble connecting to the Lineage servers following our recent server move. If you are experiencing these issues (unable to connect to the Lineage servers), please follow the instructions detailed below. If you continue to experience connectivity issues, please contact Lineage Customer Support.
The first thing to check is that your Lineage shortcut on the desktop is set up correctly. Right-click on the Lineage shortcut and click on Properties. The Target line should read as follows:
"C:\Program Files\Lineage\Lineage.exe" /us
If your Target line does not read exactly as shown above, please update it accordingly. Try logging in again.
If the problem continues...
The problem that you are experiencing is likely caused indirectly as a result of our recent Lineage server move. It takes some ISPs longer than others to update DNS entries which in turn gets passed onto their customers. The DNS lookups cached in your system are probably not yet updated.
WINDOWS 2000 or XP users:
Note – you must be logged in with local admin privileges to make these changes.
- Click Start -> Run
- Type "cmd" (without quotes) in the Run box.
- In the Command window that opens, type the following and press ENTER:
ipconfig /flushdns
This will essentially purge all cached DNS lookups from your system, forcing your computer to re-query DNS for the new information. In other words, if your computer thinks that usmainupd1.lineagethebloodpledge.com is still at the old IP address, Windows can sometimes get into a state where it saves that information indefinitely so that it doesn’t have to look it up again. The problem is that if the information changes, Windows will continue to use the old values. Using the ipconfig /flushdns command will force Windows to forget about all those saved-up values, so that the next you try to launch the client it will actively resolve the update server (rather than relying on cached information).
WINDOWS 98 and ME users:
- Click Start -> Run
- Type "command" (without quotes) in the Run box.
- In the Command window that opens, type the following and press ENTER:
ipconfig /flushdns
- See if Lineage will run now. If the problem remains, go back to your Command window and type the following lines (pressing ENTER after each):
nslookup usmainupd1.lineagethebloodpledge.com
nslookup usmainupd2.lineagethebloodpledge.com
Macintosh users:
- We are receiving reports of success using the following methods:
Restart your computer and rebuild your desktop by holding down the Command and Option keys at the same time while the computer reboots. Delete your Lineage preferences, and then run the game.
