Pledge Spotlight: Prince Nicademus & Westknights Blood Pledge (Ken) |
Q: How and when did you find out about Lineage?
Actually, I found out about Lineage through an article on an online gaming website. The article was about a conflict between two players on one of the Korean Lineage servers that escalated into a real-life fight. The article continued on to describe the play-style of Lineage, the siege system, and other aspects of the game. I was intrigued by the article and decided that I needed to investigate. =)
Q: Judging by your website it looks as though Westknights actually originated in Diablo, is this correct?
Yes, this is correct. Our Diablo II clan was founded in January of 2001. At the time it was called Knights of the West, primarily because most of us lived on the west coast of the United States. It wasn't until we started the Lineage pledge in May of 2001 that we changed the name to "WestKnights" in order to fit the pledge name
restrictions. Although we kept our name very similar, our players are now from
diverse locations -- all over the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Q: Do you think you have an advantage over other pledges with the loyalty you already knew you had from day one, because of the previous experience you all had in Diablo ?
Well, when we first ventured into the world of Aden there were only two of us from the Diablo II clan (Rincewind and myself). Since then we converted a couple more of our old Diablo clan members, which has been very helpful -- they are definitely some of our most devoted members. One other advantage that I can think of is that we had previous experience organizing/leading a group of online gamers, which accelerated the progress of our pledge. We didn't have as much of a learning curve for leadership as we might have otherwise.
Q: When you started Westknights, what were a couple of the goals you wanted to accomplish?
When we originally started WestKnights, we really just wanted to make a stable pledge full of honest and dedicated members. Over time, other higher goals have snuck into our imaginations of course. :) One of my personal goals for the pledge is to own every castle on Ken server at least once, and we are getting much closer to accomplishing that goal.
Q: What goals do you look forward to acquiring in the future?
We are very much looking forward to episode 12 and sieging the Aden castle. I should also mention that we are very excited about Forgotten Island, as I'm sure most strong pledges are. Sometime in the not-to-distant future we should have a member or two hitting level 50 which will also be a big accomplishment both individually for those members, and for the pledge.
Q: Over the course of your pledges history, you've taken a few castles. What does it feel like to lead your pledge to victory?
Well, taking a castle is always exciting and definitely quite a rush! Perhaps the most enjoyable victories occur when we have fought hard and long to obtain a castle. It is great to see our members happy after a victorious siege, but there are always the sieges that end badly as well. We have had our fair share of both victories and losses, and it is interesting to see how the pledge reacts to both. I think that most of our members are pretty good sports though, and don't let it get them down when we don't come out on top.
Q: Choose three of your members, and each describe them in one word!
Rincewind: Persistent
Blackhawkx: Dedicated
Greatajax: Ambitious
Q: If you could change a characteristic or ability of the Prince class, what would it be and why?
Probably most of all I would like the alliance function to work, and be useful. The main reason for this would be the fact that we have multiple pledges for WestKnights alone, but also because it would be infinitely useful for our long lasting alliances with the SINS, Tri-Star, and Foundation pledges. Being able to see who is online in allied pledges would be great, not to mention protection from castle archers for allied pledges, etc.
Q: Any final words? ^^
There are several unique things about our pledge. One is that all the members in our pledge trust eachother very much. Another thing that I think makes us unique is that we have never broken an alliance that we entered. Our relationships with our allies have been very long lasting and consistent. Our main pledge (EliteWest) is indeed full right now, but we will be restructuring a little bit in the near future to be able to accomodate a few more members, although we almost never openly recruit anymore. Future members are likely to be friends or family of current members. =)
Thank you to Nicademus for taking the time to share some of his (and his pledges) experiences with us !
