FunkyColdAdena Spotlight
FunkyColdAdena, or FCA if you prefer. Are these the guys that come over to your mom's house and track mud all over her carpet and run off with your kid sister? Or simply the most misunderstood pledge in the history of Aden? Prince Bizmarkie feels it's the latter, so I took some time to sit down with him and learn a little bit more about FCA.

The pledge started two years ago, with just a few friends who wanted a pledge that wouldn't fade away after a few weeks. They kicked around many symbols before they decided on the American Flag in what was a unanimous decision. Bizmarkie explained to me that their main goal is to remain a long-term group of friends that want to have fun playing Lineage. "We try to keep it fun and fresh in our chat and in our game. Very few of us have quit as a result." Biz told me.

FCA enjoys a full complement of 40 members at all times, and has a waiting list for the main pledge. As a result Biz encourages interested players to join one of his three sister pledges. FCA4ever, FCA4Eva, and FCA4Life. There are no level or Armor Class requirements for joining, but Biz says that other members usually refer people, and that loyalty to the pledge is paramount. "I don't care at all about level, equipment, etc." Biz says. "We have taken level 5 characters before, it's all about the person behind the keyboard." The average level in the main pledge is around 46, and Biz hesitated when I asked him about the strongest members of each class. "We've got so many quality players, it's hard to single any out. Everyone works together so well that the total is much greater than the sum of the parts." He also says that since the pledge has been together so long, there is no formal hierarchy. People in the pledge just assume natural leadership roles, and there is very little need for any sort of disciplinary measures. Biz is usually on-line and available to make any major pledge decisions.

When asked about allies Bizmarkie leaned back in his personal chair in the FCA house, and grinned sheepishly. "That's a tough one." He said. It seems that for the majority of their existence FCA has shunned any notion to tying themselves with any political body. RedDragonClan has always been a trusted ally, but as far as any traditional, sieging allies FCA feels that these ties change and break so often that they have decided to be autonomous in the main. Biz did remark that they have respect for many different pledges, including one's that they have fought against in the past. Here I paused and looked at Biz "Umm wouldn't that be most of the pledges on the server?" I remarked. "Yea I guess" he replied while chuckling "But many of them fight with dignity, win or lose." At this point I was glad Biz had posted two knights at the door and Sharparrows on the roof. Compendium reporters are usually pretty safe when conducting interviews, but I had made it clear to FCA that I had no intention of becoming a victim of some other pledges vendetta against them. "Well, thanks Biz. I have what I need." I said as I scraped back my chair and started for the door.

"Hey wait a minute." He called. I turned back, my blue eyes level with his shimmering green. "We ARE the most misunderstood pledge in Aden, but we like it that way. Love or hate us the people have to admit there is never a dull day around FunkyColdAdena."

For more on FCA, and information on individual members please visit www.funkycoldadena.org.

Bizmarkie and FCA would like to thank Lineage Compendium for the excellent information they continue to provide on the best MMORPG that exists.

Good interview dude. I've been with FCA longer than any current member aside from Bizmarkie and I'm actually rather upset that I wasn't there for this interview. It *does* highlite the main points of the pledge and I AM glad to be in FCA. It keeps you alert and there is deffinitely never a dull moment. It may suck, but I love the times when I'm jumped by some random guy I've never met before just for being FCA.

By the way, I'm Morticae(mage) in game and also Bizanti(knight which you'll see much more of soon). As a side note... I have never died pvp. Maybe I'm a pussy... maybe I'm smart, but that's something very few people who have played for as long as I have can say. And I don't completely avoid fights. I've killed litterally hundreds of people in sieges and I enjoy every minute of it. I guess I actually kinda wish someone with some sort of talent would jump me someday. FAR too many people just cancel and run, which I consider tantamount to grief-play (And I'm a long-term mage, so I can speak on the matter). I don't just cancel and run unless I am completely unprepared to fight and I NEVER just follow someone who's hunting and try to cancel them and run.

I don't mean to turn this thread into a rant on griefing or PKing or anything like that. I'm just trying to express the reason I enjoy this game. If you just avoid confrontation and level, yeah you may get to level 52... you may get to level 54, but what then? Why do you play Lineage? That's something I've asked myself a number of times in things other than Lineage as well. Why am I in college? Is it to get a job? Why will I work? So I can spend the few remaining years of my life playing golf in Tahiti? No... the fun in everything you do in life is in the journey itself. That, above any other piece of advice I can give, gives meaning to my life and summarizes the reason I continue to play this game.

When I DO get level 52, I would like to pre-emptively thank every single person I have ever interacted with in Lineage. We may be bitter enemies or best of friends, but that's all in game and it is what makes Lineage fun. Thanks to all of you guys and may fortune smile upon you in the lands of Aden.

By the way... I forgot to mention this, but I am extreemely honored to be the first pledge interviewed by Compendium. Amer doesn't get enough credit for all the shit he does, as well as the rest of the staff. Since I found out about Compendium a year+ ago I have visited it daily and I know there are MANY other pledges fully worthy of being interviewed. Thanks guys, keep it up.

Bah! "Loyal"! That's the word that all FCA forget when it means losing a few bucks!

And yes, Morticae this comment is directed as you, seeing as you were the last straw that made me hate your pledge :)

Lol, what are you talking about? I've wasted so much money fighting people for my friends it's rediculous. I always sell for below the going rate and often just give away items to pledge-mates. Heh, I don't even know what to say to that... it's such a gratuitously unfounded criticism I hardly think it warrants a response. What particular event prompted you to think this? I'll bet you a million adena that I can cite at least five instances of me contributing more than my share to the pledge for every instance to the opposite that you can recall.

Do some actual reporting Taera... at least I substantiate my claims with evidence, but I guess that isn't the responsibility of the media recently.

Sometimes u FCA Ppl should stop arguign back with these ppl, no ur not the worst. Jeebus just ignore these pplz,s ometimes its the best thing.
I hate how u guyz keep analyzing ppls comments about u, breaking them down and continuing the argument.
it ends up basically, both of u laffn at each other calling each other names or just thinking each other is a total idiot.
Meh...just forget it, ur not all that bad, in general terms u are one of the 'bad' pledges, but meh, that isnt a bad thing lol. PK is good, fight is good, its part of the game.
Save ur breath.

I normally do ignore the criticism... but when a reporter for compendium can't resist keeping their personal pot-shots off the board I'm going to say something and feel completely justified in doing so. Especially such a completely trite and unfounded pot-shot as Taera decided to pull. We've heard that before, and we've watched the old generation of "loyal" bloodpledges that called us "unloyal" vanish and be replaced by a new generation that tries to undermine our ties. And once Taera's "loyal" bloodpledge has vanished, we'll still be around and still be just as "unloyal"

hmm.........maybe.......sometimes...........
unloyal pledges sometimes stick around for a long time, since their leader dunno how to lead, and just keeps recruiting morons, after those morons leave,s/he recuits more morons.
and loyal pledge vanish fast sometimes, maybe cuz their leader decided to call it a quit, and the whole pledge follows him??just my guess

I certainly dun hate the FCAs,they r always the first to talk, and the first to tele=\
but gota hand it to those guys, great coi skillz~~~

o yea,I like to spell colour with the U

Collector,

If you ever see any of our subpledgees (or main pledgees) griefing, send me a mailpaper or PM me somewhere. I don't tolerate griefing. I'll deal with that stuff quick. I've banned people for just hanging out dueling in doorways too much and being annoying.

Just don't ask me to ban ppl for PKing...

Morticae, I am not speaking as a reporter now, I am speaking as a player. I personally witnessed you attacking an ally because you felt like it, and I personally witnessed FCA backing you up. Loyal to eachother maybe, but FCA is not at all loyal to allies.
