Episode 12: Aden is coming!

Lineage Playforum (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051002&kid=3132) reports on the upcoming release of Episode 12: Aden.

NC says that they want to include more social features into Lineage. To this end, Pledge Alliance and Player Marriage systems will be introduced as a real system, more than just the spoken promises "we will be allies" which players use today.

In addition, the king of all castles - Aden - will be introduced with this episode. The King that owns Aden Castle will rule over all, as Aden Castle collects taxes from all the other castles.

NC expects to release Episode 12 to the Korean Test servers on Dec. 26 and release to live servers by the end of January 2003.

How is it wasting time on LOA, If you guys notice its the first button for your choice of servers to play. All new players that aren't being refered by friends are either gonna pick LOA, the first one or Ken because it says no pvp. With quite a few people coming back from quiting, and amount of people that have already switched to LOA, it is going to be the most popular server. Plus if NC gets serious about its marketing then there will be a real influx of people.

So does that mean Ken Rauhel will be the first king we need to beat to get Aden? And if we do, what happens to him? Does he come back as a aggresive NPC to take back the castle every now and then??? I'm guessing Ken will be as strong or stronger than Demon. I'm sure his guards will be super strong as well :).
Finally a working alliance system. Hopefully there will be an alliance chat.
As for marriages...I'm getting married as soon as the update comes out so I can benefit from whatever bonus is given to married players :). I'm hoping for an increase drop and experience rate :)

leon, you are wrong. "live servers" are the korean live servers, then it goes USA test and after that USA live (from a week to 1~2 months late)

DIVERSAL; I highly doubt it. Lineage has been monthly pay-to-play for about 2 years. I don't think they'll change it any time soon, if they do at all.

It's about time they fix the stinking Alliance function. That will help a lot in sieges...

Marriage. That's going to be nice. Honestly, I'm not sure how an Alliance command is really going to change things. If you want to align with someone now, you just say you will, and you fight together. I'm pretty sure all it does is let you see your allies Pledge Emblems over their characters.

the alliance system should be great... the marriage is ridiculous though

nexus had a marriage system.. what happened was guys would get a sex change (no joke, this was actually supported by the game) to marry their friend just to get the game mechanics benefits.. and all it let u do was teleport to ur "spouse" in areas you couldn't teleport to normally.. so if there is anything that gives married ppl an advantage, lineage is gonna become like that -.-... although if they just have some title thing or something that's fine..

If Marriage is strategic, I could be great!

For example;
The Male Prince would Siege,
The Female Prince get's a house.
(please forgive the standard roll model)

This is an arrangement found in most pledges already.

Let's say marrying them would allow membership in
both pledges to increase by 50% over the normal
CHA formula. Then marriage would be great!

Another benefit could be combined pledge chat!
So no matter which spouse you were /joined to
you would hear the other pledges chat, and even
be able to do pledge only spells like DEX/STR
to members of the other spouse.

So the larger pledges trying to hold multigate
Castles like Heine, Giran, and probably Aden
won't need to have 3rd, 4th, pledges that confuse,
or allience pledges that eventually backstab them.

The penalty of Divorce would be that both large
pledges would disband automatically. So pledges
would need to rebuild to each prince/princess.

This will make sieging more intersting since a
prince who loses a castle, and needs to disband
and regroup in order to retake it, won't be able
to do it so last minute, if he needs the greater
numbers he relied upon during his married state.

Marriage could be further expanded to other classes.
Say a male and female elf marry. This could be a
system where they share drops and exp benefit
equally even when they are not hunting together.
Say a lvl.48 elf, who really does not need to level
anymore, wants to help his noob friend get to 32.
They marry, so the great exp the 48 get's but does
not really need, would then "rub off" on the spouse.

Marrige could be very interesting if implimented properly.

If could also be very profitable for NCSoft.
Say you have a rich Dex elf on one account, and you always
wanted to do a Con elf, but don't want to give up all the
wealth your Dex makes hunting harder MOP then any noob CON
could handle, even wearing your best stuff. So you buy
another account from NCSoft, make a Con elf, marry it to
your Dex elf, then continue to hunt with your Dex elf
all the while your Con elf levels up with you. Before
long your Con elf is lvl.40, and you start hunting with
her instead, while NCSoft get's twice as much money out
of you as before.

So you see, it all depends on the implimentation...

I think Aden castle should be sieged by 40+ prince/sses. this would keep royalty from getting to lvl 25 to siege and then just playing another char to get money and items.

Also, the marriage system would be good if they did it right, otherwise it could really get screwed up.

Anyways, i hope they make some good hunting spots.

i dont think Aden castle should have a restriction on a prince/ess lvl in order to get it....whoever has the strongest pledge and alliances will get the castle...simple as that.

#43: Lineage has been subscription based since korean live servers went commercial, rougly 5 years ago.

I remind you this, ep 12 is not the end for whole lineage, there will still be episodes added, 13-18 will be The age of lord british o.o.
