Cursed Ettin drops Tsurugi?

It seems that the newbie lands have some great drops. It is common knowledge that zels and dais are dropping from level 8 and 9 monsters there. Looks like the bosses are even better?

This happened on the test server and personally, I think there are a few reasons to believe it. Once you get over the fact that up until now the only way to get a Tsurugi was to kill a Dragon or to collect a long list of rare items, you may be able to accept that it's possible.

Cursed Ettins are rare. On average, they seem to spawn every 4 or 5 real hours. If it's ultra rare on a creature that only appears a maximum of 6 times a day, we're talking about lottery-style odds here. It is not worth anyone's time to live at level 9 and hope for a tsurugi.

For those reasons, we're going to give this drop the benefit of the doubt. We'll wait until we have some more corroboration before we start calling it a fact. (Incidentally, we have a few good reasons to trust Sorelore, so if he's wrong, I'm gonna have to rip him a new one.)

But I bet if you're a newbie and you get a tsurugi like that, NC has scored a customer for life ^^

Question: Can noobs take out those items out of their areas? If it's right, then, they will have far better equiptment than the ones that started without that advantage.

How is possible that then can begin with super items when almost all of us began with nothing? (just asking..)

LOL...i know some of you might think its another Power Glove from Claw trick but it is very real. I camped it 6hrs straight till it spawned...an elf named Zellslasher was with me and you can ask him if u want proof. Forged now known as Preach was there earlier before it spawned and he found out at first also. Thanks for the TSU Ettin!!!

EDIT:(In reply to amer) I do beleive Claws drop PG! It is just that many others still dont beleive and think it is a fake....so i figure relating to them a bit would help, but maybe not.

I killed the cursed ettin with some guy and got the majority of the drop, but no key... the guy said he got one though. All it dropped me was crap, the best thing was a q-r -_- I think this is bogus

these good drops from easy monsters, although being extremely rare, are very unfair I think... the amount of trouble ppl have to usually go through to get these items means nothing now if you can just kill these easy monsters and get them.

Dhaos, the cursed ettin itself is rare to begin with, and I betcha ANYTHING the tsu is 1:100000000000000000000000000000000000000 chances of actually getting the thing, so calm down.

Here's my 2 cents worth. These drops will only occur in the TEST SERVER. They will never make it to the LIVE SERVERS. NC needs people to level fast, so they can "TEST" their game. No way NC lets a newbie get a drop that worth 4-5 mil. Because then he/she can just sell that, and be running around with a quick -39 AC and a +6 Sword a week into playing the game. And thats just not fair.

I don't doubt this drop for a minute. While giving my newbie prince a much needed workout, he defeats an 'underground lamia' in addition to the standard adena and cure poisons she drops, it winds up that my young hero is now in posession of a full-fledged COP! Complain about the updates? Not me!

Well, we have to remember that it is test server, the same one where a newbie knight can pay his own pots without needing a cash cow (a.k.a mage). I really doubt this drop crazyness would make it to the live servers, but i'd like the live servers to have the same drop rate that newbies have in the newbie zone of tests. It would make playing a little more enjoyable.

Sure, until they make tsurugi 2 handed, make so that you can only drink 1 healing potion a day (red of course), decrease drop rates, hide all this behind a ridicilous event, say they are constantly looking into things, and have their community coordinator someone who hasn't played lineage properly longer than 2 days.

Well, about the topic, if they get those items, (at a faster rate than normal zones), then prices should go down. Like the new update (at dep), prices of summon (before update) were like 450~650K, now they are like 75~300K.

I really think that it is stupid that they are doin this to us. I worked and worked to get myself a Tsu and then some newbie doesn't even know what it is and picks it up from some 3 hit kill on Si. I would hate to be someone workin'
really hard to get a tsu then get showed up by a newbie thats lvl 9. I would go crazy. But thats just me =P

I think 1 tsu dropping ever like 2-3 weeks is reasonable or not even dropping at all. ^^

It's fake , why the red keys on the list drops aren't one after the other?
why the tsurugi is between them on the list?
i think it's just a good fake work ^^ (well... not good enough after all).
explenation:
that guy edited the ss,
that cursed ettin dropped him 3 red keys, he changed the middle one to "Tsurugi"
that's why it has the same length as the red key.

p.s: watch cursed ettin's drop at the old news(pay attention to the red keys).

Why is it so unbelieveable that he got a *great* drop on the (TEST) Server? Isn't that the same server where ppl average 10+mil in adena and +9 weaps. Remember the drop event we had in December 2001? There were ROTCs, ROPCs and other super rare drops everywhere. I know a summon mage who made 1 mil in the 2 day span just from drops alone. It was rumored that those drops were in comparison to TEST server drops. So it's not unbelievable to me at least.

The possibility of a newbie getting drops like that in the LIVE servers will be like pulling just the gray hair from the crack of your ass. In other words unless you like pain you won't stay a newbie long enough to get it!

this is to ZgroovyZ the ss is not doctered one of ur reasons were that the word trurgui and the word red key were the same length....... let see red is dpelled REd take the fierst three lettters of ths sword tsu so thats three letter taken up then theres a space that makes the sword spell tsur then there are three more letteres for it to fill key tsur is what we got add gui and u got 7 chaerecters the word redkey is 7 charecters or spaces so its not doctered ur just jealous i think

Personally, this makes me pissed. NCsoft always makes massive changes to the game in the name of "balancing," but how balanced is this? I dont care if the drop is extremely rare like Mel said, the fact that there is even a chance that someone could get an item worth multiple millions in their first week or so of playing is EXTREMELY UNBALANCED. Rediculous even.

Why does NC implement changes that NOBODY wants though? Things that help one class and upset others is one thing, but pot delay? ok im on both sides of this argument. for one thing the tsurigi drop is extremley insane. Including the zel and dai drop since this is only for NEWBS so your saying newbs can walk into the game fully equipted? no NC is a balance freak. But its really messed if you see they try to "balance" all the wrong things they "balance" when everybody likes something so that its no longer good. Then when they put in something that no one likes they jack it up..........ALOT. like th thing where a newb canget a tsu is odd but very unlikely. We will probably only hear of 1 more ts drop in all of test in 10 year but iff every newb walks out of that place witha tsu its totaly b-s.

People...People.. Listen to yourselves... This is supposed to be a community gaming experience yet everyone is all jacked up over some newbie with a valuable drop?! Well SO?! What different does it make?

This game like life experiences ask yourself, "What do I give back to newbie players?" In other words how do you make the game more enjoyable for people just joining when everyone else has already been established? This is how it's done. Allow good drops to come newbies way every once in awhile that vets can get but they can't get it from the same areas. I started this game in Beta just like most of you. I started with nothing. No help. No ideas of how to get around. Over a period of time I learned how to play but it took forever to be able to boost armor/ac. The purpose of this game for most of us is to make money then make bigger and better toys, Right? Depending on how you do it and how lucky you are helps determine your outcomes. To make it short, it wasn't easy for most of us to get to where we are now. Before when people used to quit they would distribute items to others. Now everyone blows their items so no one can benefit. You people created this habit of not giving back. Someone helped you. You should help someone else. If you don't then let NC do it.

These servers have been in existence of 1.5 years, don't you realize it's impossible for newbies to compete when everyone has been playing for 6+ months? You drive the prices up of items that newbies need but can't afford then complain when NC helps them. I see high level players selling everything they get from low level spellbooks to berserker axes. Who is going to buy them? Newbies are so you are exploiting them. Try giving newbies a helping hand. You'll feel better about it.

And remember those items are on the test server where the drop probabilities are accelerated.

I don't care about Tsurugi I can't even use it. It is kinda unbalanced to have a newb with it but this being test I don't see any problem with it. If it came to the live servers then I'd get mad. I'm more upset about the pots delay, ac changes, and the added pets... all of these were stupid updates that should never have happened. Might as well remove the hotkeys too and give knights an item called a$$ kicker boots or let knights have powered armor suits called Mecs.

hmmm - This may drop on test, who who's say any of this crap drops on live servers? Any newb on dep/ken even got dai's from the newbie area's yet?

I can see why p-g's and tsu would drop on test, NC wants people to lvl fast so they can, you know, test stuff. No point in it dropping on live, you'll just see newbs with ultra-powerful stuff that drop it as soon as they die (and newbies die a lot...).

And also, Valley Arachnevil drops Greater Haste rarely (on live servers). I got a drop and took a ss of it, but I did /Clientonly >_<!!!

I think the newbie areas have crazy drops cuz NC wants to wipe Test more frequently and they need players to test out all the items... So now Test players can get these items such as Tsu and P-G more easily so then they can wipe O.o

lest go back to betta drops and stuff... when orc town was the ebst city... we allg amble our money away a amce costing 700a... and Police,Mils Family, etc. use to pk ppl for fun lolz those were the days... awww dont all the vets miss it... hunting in orc town for a few hours and making 30-100k...

^_^.... new drop rates are so messed... easy to kill mops dropping item that are 2mil+ adena come on NC thats stupid.... even if its rare it still can happen... its jsut not right... i could understand if you made strong mops like ifrit,bapho,ant queen,beleth,dk,pheonix drop this but claws and c-ettin a boss that i can probably end with 1hit its not right....

ok first, what i dont get is all the wizards crying about summon changes all my friends with summon love the changes maybe just you newbies dont like 2 bbs should level up to 48 and get 2 kbb second, i dont get why all you wiz think ur ac should be as good as knights, ive played a wizard most of lineage and now im a knight so i dont feel the effects but still, in myths and stuff u dont see mages fighting knights do you? maybe you guys should get your mana twigs and get some mana and fight with spells! thats what mages do! mage=magic knight=brute force elf=long distance ive noticed the high level mages arent whinning i guess thats because they have better ac and summon so that means level up newbs!!! about the ettin drop 1:quit crying 2:one word test 3:extremely rare 4:sorelord isnt a newb its a new character almost all "newbs" on test have been playing lineage for a while so therefor they arent newbs geez people suck it up

lvl up? i only spend 1 or 2 hours playing this game. I have to hang out with my friends. I can't lvl up anyway, i am not an experienced player. it takes me 10 days to get to lvl 10, i am not familar with this game either. And so what if i am a newbie, doesn't mean all the high lvl player should make fun of me just because they are lvl 60 or something like that. so i am getting more angry at this game, every freakin damn time, all the people who pisses me off.

on topic...its very rare let it go but the only thing thats still pissin me off is the pot pumpin, i have to use clears to 1:1 sum peeps and i have decent ac

anth just ended on test...unless nc decided to take him out again
there was this huge dragon hunt goin down there, me and a few friends went down a lil later to see wut was goin on and anth IS NOT in the cave...trust me i looked for a long time lol i didnt take the hits from all those dam succ queen for nothin =p so anth is added to the list of dragon slayings O.o i dunno how this is happenin its like the first week of test and faf and anth have been killed >.< there is a pledge where every1 has coi, cpm, tsu, or btsu (i have seen all these items in a trade window), and ive been gettin whomped by them in sieges lol

This is a great move! I have to say the I welcome all the benefits new players can get from these new areas! The elite is simply too distant from where you start, trailing the old guys for years is NOT fun in a game.

AND, this is a great way to distribute random good drops! Think about it, newbs getting this has a very good chance of dropping it to us later! :) :) :) hehe Lets just hope they all die horrible deaths and drop all their good stuff once they leave their safe havens and come to our real world! lol jk, but I do think this is great!

The game takes far too long, its a treadmill, and the worst kind of treadmill, it never stops, there is no endgame you can enjoy in Lineage, since you will always be required to get money through lousy drops, not to mention what amounts of time you have to spend just to GET BACk what you loose at deaths...

Good thing, NC, but dont forget everyone starting a little before these lucky new dudes too...

But I AM an ELF and why the HELL does my AC has to be less than a KNIGHT ? how in the BLUE Heaven thats Balancing the game ? SoreLord Just gave the c-ettin his tsu and just killed him and took ss just to fake that c-ettin really does give tsu.... i can do that with any mop.. for example if i give a dwarf my epm and when i kill it, it will give my armor back and it will said Dwarf gave you Elven PLate Mail... ^^

I hope NCsoft-US creates Veteran's island or valley or prison like the newbie world. If i was newbie i would never leave that place, killing an Ogre with a short bow was fun.

Mel if you read make teleport to Valley/Island scrolls drops in Elven forest. Because the Elves should get to experience this, most of them spend their low lvls making stuff anyhow. Why not give them the choice of lvling in Elf forest or Newbie land.

Also the event was well put together, I saw serveral low lvls pledges hunt dv in groups. I even escorted a group to a safe spawn (they were lvl 15 elves, with oranges and hunter bows (someone was nice enough to sell them to them for 1k).
They also spawned (Gnolls) in safe areas , I counted 3 Guard Gnolls in one area with only 1 Dark Elf. I loved the event.
