Little kids have so much ambition, but it dose not match up to his talents...

Making a game takes 50-100 people doing each part to make a whole...anyway how are you so sure that you will be graduating in 5 years and jump into making a game right away?

Unless you are from a rich family you need money to start this kind of stuff...iam not being negative, iam just not being positive about this. ^_^

i will email yammie about this later, when more info will be revealed, if so i might be able to contact european game sites and make alot of attention to this game and maybe able to host a server (would be quite easy in denmark to do --;)

but as of now, with no info whatsoever, it would be impossible.

Yammie,
I am interested in helping with this new MMORPG also. I have been researching and concepting the same idea for months now and I will have to say that IT WILL take many many Man hours to Analyze, Conceptualize, gathering your requiremnts, building functuional specs., Story-boarding, and creating project plans and schedules and at this point you have not even coded anything yet. Their is the AI and the Engine to be used and possibly created anew. There are many hundreds of hours of good graphics rendering and music making. There is the coding and testing and documentation that will need to be done. It is a huge undertaking to make a well rounded and nicely concieved program.

And anyone who tells you differently is a FOOL! I have 7 years of development experience and I do not believe I can even now fully grasp an over all picture of what is needed for a game of this concept

I did not say it wouldnt take long. Did I say that? Did I say it would be easy? No, I simply said a hundred people are not needed.

Yammie, one of the books you will probably read in college is called 'The Mythical Man-Month' it is good reading and not a huge book, very small actualy. Some of the writings and essays in it will give you some insite into the management of a software application and the many 100s of Man-hours often needed.

I also believe this book is where the concept and rationale came about that pointed out that upwards of 80% of all applications created by software Engineers are failures these days. The statement goes on to say that if Building Engineers had the same sucess rate, would you be willing to drive over a bridge today?

Good luck Yammie! are you aiming for a MUD? 2D? 3D?

It doesn't take 100's of people, example: Dominus Online ;)

If they can do it, anyone can!

"I already have a lot of the game worked out, with plenty more to do. I would start making the game sometime this year if I knew how to program, but I don't know how to yet so I can't."

I want to make game too but i know i'm not that smart to understand or able to learn the computer programming that well.

I cant think of any game that has that large of a development team, or any program for that matter... There arent even that many people on the Windows dev team. Now if you count graphics artists and all the other people who dont actually program, the number goes up, but still not that high. The best games available are written by less then 10 people.

However, that is not to say that writting a game is easy, infact game programming is the hardest code to put out because theres so many logical algorythms to consider. A MMORPG is twice as hard because you have to write both the client and the server. I find the fact that lineage works at all quite amazing.

Good luck to you Yammie, but since you have no experience with code, dont get too excited. As it stands right now, the odds of your ideas making it to a fully functional game are about 1,000 to one. There are a lot of variables when writing a program as complex as a MMORPG.

chipersoft: i know programming can be hard, but i am pretty sure i will be able to handle it. ive always done good in school, getting 70s even if i dont pay attention or do work (talking about grade 12 advanced courses). and programming is something i have a lot of interest in, so i think i will do well.

Yammie don't listen to the nay-sayers. -.- I think it's very cool that you know what you want to do and have set a goal. A lot of people your age can't even think that far ahead. I say go for it! It won't be an easy task but if U really want to do it, you will. Best of luck to you~ (Will be e-mailing you soon...)
