New Class? (Part 2)

From HKLineage (http://netcity7.web.hinet.net/UserData/actc/news/200304/20030416.html), it seems that this is the next chapter of the Dark Elf rumor we mentioned earlier. These pictures were discovered on the Korean (and US) Test Servers. They belong in the Character Selection screen, but it looks like they're intentionally trying to tease us now.

Will sprites be next? Or is this the longest April Fool's joke ever?

One question though. Why would they put another elf class in? I mean, they had plans a long time ago to put the thief and engineer class in, and I bet more people would like to see those classes in than another elf class.

i agree with ehong they deffinatley look like thieves more than dark elfs..thiefs usually have those gay short cape like thingers on there back and they have that :) but there probably dark elfs cause of that file thingy thers no thief file thingy is there?

You want to know how to get a dark elf char. You ahev to unlock it, and I know hwo so everyone listen especially u amer. The bow for the lvl 45 elf quest i believe unlocks it. But it probably wotn be in teh game til lvl 45. What else woudl taht bow be for? Its simple that teh dark elf char must be unlcoked. Look at the symbol on teh kreoan site a ? thats a dead giveawaya. I cant do the quest cause im chao, but someoen should tyr to make a dark elf char after they hae gotten the bow. I dotn knwo if thsi will work. they may add soem special npc in Lineage Forever. id wish the put engineer in id be alot better.

Do anyone acctually try clicking the links amer provides? They usually provide more pictures. If you look at the last one it gives the base stats...15dex for a thief?? Got to be a elf.

It would be very strange if it was a Dark Elf class, seeing as there's already Dark Elves and they're evil. I'm hoping for Thieves, as they appear to be thieves, and it's been rumored for years. Engineer would be nice too, (Sine I have the name) but I'm beginning to doubt they'd go through with that. I feel that they need 2 new classes, as one just doesn't seem right.

Dark Elf class + Thief class = Dark Elf Thief, that would satify all of u. Not another human class pls, 3 human classes and 1 elf class. If u want a good thief, it has to be an elf :-)

And yes, 2 new classes would be much nicer indeed, dream on...

Who's seen the new matrix 2 trailer? Reckon the two at the top of the page look a bit like wraiths? :D

Would have to have their own kinds of dissolvable items maybe, and have a weaker hit, but would be able to move through some walls, take less damage when running, etc...

#13 - I think you've been reading too much about Star Wars: Galaxies, which Lineage is not. :) It *would* be cool if you had to unlock the class, but I don't think that the Heaven's Bow would be the key -- how do you explain the Heaven's Sword then? Or that mages and princes don't get Heaven's anything?

#18, I would expect a thief to have high DEX because of its need for stealth.
#27 The Dark Elf file was nothing more than a file with dark elf for the name, it was later revealed that the file contained nothing more than the first paragraph of the Korean Education Charter, or something like that. They even said it wasn't real on that news bit.

My opinion is that the male is standing in a bit of a contemplative manner. A dark elf male might stand in a more aggressive pose. To me, a dark elf would be very confident and not have much time to hesitate and think about any action they do. No, I say this is more indicative of a thief or engineer than a dark elf. Also - the clothes. Granted, the dark elf in the game, currently, has the high boots, but these look too bulky. There is almost a hint of a knee pad on her right leg. These boots are definitely working boots. They have traction and offer a good bit of protection. They aren't very stealthy, or form fitting, which I think a dark elf or even a thief might want to capitalize on. So this eludes to it being a definite working class character, such as the engineer. Unfortunately, it would stand to reason that an engineer would need a higher base intelligence and wisdom. However, if they are not using spells, but rather they have an ability for item fabrication, then (in this game) they would not need a high intelligence and/or wisdom. The low CON stat indicates that it is more inclined to be a thief or engineer as those classes would try to avoid hand-to-hand combat. Even if you pumped all 7 of those points into CON, you would only have 15 - that is hardly worth it. When it comes right down to it, in this day and age of digitally altered images - there is no 100% on this being a real screenshot at all anyway.

I agree with #21, a Dark-Elf Thief would be ideal. Sort of a best of two worlds kinda thing. Also, it would satisfy my need for a new class standard as well as keeping it a different race.

Yes but hp on level up is from level AND class. NC will make the gain something they find resonable for whatever its purpose will be.

#21 Humans/Elves are not classes, they're races. It never made sense to me tha Elves are a class of their own in Lineage.
#27 That file could've been anything! it could've been the file that made Dark Elves untameable for all anyone knows.
#36 NCSoft doesn't think about these things as much as you do. if they think it looks good, they throw it in. And why would you think that dark Elves or Engineers would need to wear anything specific? Bad speculation.

So...if it were a thief class or even a d-e thief class... I wonder what exactly would the thief class be stealing? assassinate storage dwarves and rob them? or raid pot and weapon/armor shops? Attack much more powerful classes for drops? would work oly on pvp servers, and most ppl are fully lawful, and NC ha been discouraging pk for quite sometime. I donno just doesnt sound right to me. An engineer class? build what? siege engines? catapults? it would require radical changes to the game to accomplish that methinks!

The Engineer would be able to craft Weapons and Armors that aren't available to other Classes. The Thief would be able to steal items from monsters without initiating combat. Maybe all Thieves would have the ability to turn invisible, like when wearing a COI. As a bonus, they would be able to attack out of invisibility without a delay, and they could steal items from monsters without being seen. Or maybe they'll be able to attack very quickly with daggers, like a Cockatrice.

NCSoft could go wherever they want with this, but they won't. We'll end up getting the Dark Elf because then they won't need to think of anything new, and they've probably got all of its abilities and items ready on Lineage 2.

Maybe they need an Engineer that steals, and happens to be a Dark Elf.

Oh yeah, I was thinking, it's going to be funny when the new class is implemented, because it's going to look so much smoother and well-proportioned than our current classes. Think original Werewolf look compared to new Werewolf. I don't know why NCSoft got lazy and decided not to give us our new sprites.

And can they revamp the rest of the world map already? I don't like going to Gludio from Talking Island and seeing how bad the textures are/were.

I think Lineage is a very badly thought out gam, in terms of classes, and the way the progress up the levels. Even though combat is not the forte of all classes, a prince -for example- clearly was not made to fight as a knight, and yet the only way for a prince/cess to gain levels is via fighting monsters, not via organising pledges and winning wars. For a mage to use certain spells (mostly combat offenive spells) may gain them exp (sometimes) and negative alignment, whereas using lawful spells (like healing) will mostly give neither experience nor alignment. Anyway, what I really wanted to say is how do u level up an engineer? by improving and refining techniques? or also by fighting monsters with very inferior combat skills?

the darkelf file.. it is there. i went to korean server and it was downloaded by auto update. it's just that some guy wrote some joke with that.. but it is there. maybe there will be dark elf? who knows.

doubt its going to be an engineer or dark elf..
look more like a rougue class to me, theif makes more sense because of the low con.
however assasin would make sense, go in silently and stirke with a nasty blow,
with dex starting at 15, and str at 12....
hit fast, hit hard, get out quick
and they probably have decent long range and melee attacks
maybe has spells like:
laying traps, backstab, move silently (quiet spell), invisible at higher levels would makse sense, blind everyone on the screen would be funny.. especially in siege

hope its an assasin class, that would be fun

somethings i'd love to see added in lineage though:
1) skills.. blacksmithing, armormy, potion making, cloth making, just like the npc's, but where we can make our own
2) variety of how we look compare to how were dressed, be able to paint our clothes whatever color we want, even choose hair color
3) extra slots for the new class would be nice, or even adding about 4 more slots for extra characters
4) a land in the sky, a cloud city of sorts
5) adding in more mops to each area, wyvern in oren would cool, kind of like drakes in dv and pheonix in fv
