Gamania signs publishing contract to NCsoft’s EverQuest
[October 3, 2002] NCsoft announced today its decision to publish online game ‘EverQuest’ in Taiwan following its launch in Korea. NCsoft, after signing a publishing contract with Gamania Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd., will release EverQuest in Taiwan via Gamania.
NCsoft remarked that the decision was based on the success of two-year service period of Lineage in Taiwan by Gamania, an indication that Gamania is capable of drawing another similar success with EverQuest. Lineage has garnered incredible success in Taiwan, presently taking 60% of the online game market with record levels of concurrent players of over 160,000.
NCsoft President, Tack Jin Kim, commented, “We have to come up with diverse genres and styles of online games, to keep pace with and make continuous development in the ever-growing online game industry that changes by leaps and bounds everyday. I have no doubt that EverQuest will be a totally new experience for Taiwanese gamers in a different way Lineage has been.”
President Albert Liu of Gamania said, “Lineage was a legendary success not only in Korea but also in Taiwan, helping change the landscape of the online game market in Taiwan. Along with the expansion of Taiwan’s online game market, I will exert my best effort to market and promote EverQuest so that it contributes to further market expansion and development.”
NCsoft has made a strategic alliance with Sony Online Entertainment Inc. last January, agreed to launch EverQuest in Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and is currently providing public beta services of EverQuest in Korea. Public beta services in Taiwan will begin from the first half next year.
EverQuest is a leading worldwide online game, most favored by U.S. and European players, featuring fantastic 3D graphic-based first person view.
