Level 30 Quests

Byte on Test Server made us a nice guide on the Level 30 Knight Quest. It's missing screenshots though, so if anyone else wants to contribute the play-by-play screenshots, please do.

However, it seems to have been noticed that the Red Knight's Shield, like the Red Knight's Hood is safely enchanted to +6 (this is exactly the same as an Elven Shield, weight, material, everything). DooDad tried experimenting with all three items to see if there was a set bonus, but it looks like none.. yet. ;)

Some more info on the Spirits that we've been messing with on test:
Wind and Fire both have 380HP, Earth has 410HP and Water has 450HP. Earth and Fire seemed to hit faster than Wind and Water have. I would say that Earth and Fire were about the same speed as a Rova/Atuba Orc and Wind and Water were the same speed as a Neruga Orc. It just seemed to have that extra pause that Neruga's spear has.

As for changing lines, Everlastin demonstrated that once you learn it, it's yours to keep (which is the OPPOSITE of what the NPC says). He changed his line like 3 times in front of me, and summoned a different Spirit every time. He did lose his other elemental spells, but no need to take the quest again.

Everlastin and I did some damage tests with Wind and Fire. Wind seemed to hit more often than Fire did, but Fire hit much harder. The range was something like 5-20HP per hit landed for Fire.

Everlastin expressed some annoyance at their pathfinding AI. They seemed to turn to Alert every time he went up or down a floor in Ivory Tower and he had to walk over to it to set it back to Aggressive. That was kind of frustrating.

Oh, and purely from an aesthetic point of view, the different spirits differ by more than just color. The Spirit of Wind was like a spinning flash of light when it hit, while the Spirit of Fire was more like a burning speedbag headbutting you. You'll have to see it for yourself. :)

i believe shield is -2ac; +4% mr, mr doesnt go up; safe to +6 so it should replace es...

lv 30 mage quest requires u to complete lv 15 mage quest (both? if both...lol)

let's see....lv 15 quest skel skull is hella hard to find...
so that would be a problem for ppl to even try to take the lv 30 quest -_-"...

so even tho the crystal staff is good...
if u cant really do the quest to get it...and u have to buy it for really high price...what goood does it do +.+..

The Knight's Quest is rather easy. I got the Arachnevil claw with my first kill on TI. (You won't get it form Arachneveil Elders elsewhere.) The Road of Pain is much easier than before. You can still haste and brave yourself before you go in. Everything is unequipped when you are sent in and you can only reequip the Red Knight Sword. Most of the maze is not used this time. The room with the Chief Ramia is right by the entrance. I got my key from the first Ramia I killed just in the entryway. However, the locked room was empty, presumably not yet repawned from the last knight. I explored some of the maze to see if there was anything else there and I did find a suit of splint mail lying on the ground, whihc I could not equip while down there. I went back up the stairs and healed myself. The Ramia key stayed with me, although it was non-transferrable. Then I went back down and the room had respawned. The game didn't care that I came down with more than one Potion of Cure Poison. There was a blue Ramia (the Chief, although it didn't say that) and 2 normal Ramia. I killed them and got my scale. There is no window to tell you to go hunt bugbears for the key. I guess you are supposed to be suprised to get the key fighting your way to Orim. I again got the secret key the first bugbear I killed. Getting to Jim wasn't bad, once I knew of the bug. Now we are waiting for the Duke of Disgardeng to return to Werldern from the Ivory Tower. This might be an intro to the lvl 40 quest for the Red Knight Armor to complete the Red Knight Set, or to Episode 12.

for the mage quest does anyone know if it is possible to just summon, or lead the orc zombie to step on the other platform? cuz if not, the price of create zombie is gonna raise to a completely unreasonable price for how useless it is

u should complete lvl 15 mage quest for the lvl 30?? OMG... at lvl 48-49 cant complete even lvl 15 quest ;( then u have to buy that ball for 100K.. :_(

any good news for mages? well at least they will have some kind of som ¬¬'

i think nc loves elfs... has better spells than mages.. hits faster than knights.. better ac (despite soft ac update is harder on mages).. they are beauty.. AND NOW! summon.. :(

the only good thing mages get this days.. is... FI mage robe? 12mill for scroll + the sealed robe.. O_O
+5dsm almost same price... and has better ac

sorry ppl.. i'm always complaining :P (have some reason)

mage quest is so stupid.

i just bought a som for 100k last week~

no way will i pay 100k for a god damn stick that only work when underweight, standing still, on a blue, with med in an inn (the max effiecency?)

its not practical in hunts.

if mage should pay 100k for a crappy item, geez just line em all up and shoot all mages in the foot, thats a better handicap at least

Oh yeah for all of you to know I'm the Test reporter know. Plus monitor71 did more good then harm. I asked him about the spells and he hinted towards c-z and then amer nailed it. When I finally got it he came and said congrats then laughed as I walked to the next floor... Believe me, I showed him ;).

Red Knight Shield is +0 MR, -2 AC, and +6 safe enchant. It also has properties of the Shield of Reflection: the higher the enchantment, the better protection against curse: paralyze (and possibly other spells).

Amazing... even more paralyze protection for knights then?

Last siege I attended, casting paralyze 10 times (and only working 3) with my SP 18 mage, caused me to loose so many lawful points it took me more than 10 hours of play time to recover it. Play time where I was living in FEAR of dying and dropping any of my expensive items...

Question... anyone knows if c-staff is transferable? Can you make more than one? (int book, book of magical powers, you can only make 1 on the life on your mage). Thus, a +5 BOMP is scarce, and expensive. No talk about a +6!... (friend of mine made one on two n-zels... lucky him. Sold it for quite a bit (dont remember))

NC needs to learn that they should do what the people want and not what they want, this shield is useless, the staff is a good idea for people without som, the t-shirt is a ok idea but only helps elfs and the summon is a wonderful idea but the new RKC i have to say is very stupid

NC says 'we just wanted knights to clearly be the best melee fighters in game, while mages have the ability to cast devestating spells to stop the knights'

upon which they think 'wait guys! now knights can be killed by mages! QUICKLY! give them more and more magic resistance so they can laugh in the mages face when they try and cast para and go chao!'

AND THE SAME GOES FOR FREAKIN ELVES! YES I AM ANGRY! ITS BEGINNIN TO SEEM LIKE THE MAGES HAVE THE LEAST MAGIC RESISTANCE IN THE GAME!

the elves easily beat them, andwith a mr set, knights now have the best ac and sweet mr.

#44, as i see you and me both wish that para didn't take law in seiges, and your sense of denial about it must make it easy for you. However losing 2k of law every time you cast para in a seige is a very bitter reality, but it is the reality of lineage. My mage on test didn't go full full chao from pking nonono, it took a seige and a half and that was it, the full chao led to the pking, not the pking led to the chao. If you don't believe me cast it 30 times in a seige and then see what happens...
maybe they don't make it take law on ken because its not pk, or something ?.?

however my opinion on the new staff for mages and the new shield for knights is, NC do you ever think before you act?
as for you knights that feel safe with your magic resistance set, i pked a knight(level 45-49) on test (i was full chao) 1 para and one freeze he droped me a +6comr magic resistance doesn't save knights from chaotic mages. however it will save you from the mages that like all there lawfull spells (ie heal, turn, nothing usefull...), since i sincerly doubt they can heal u to death.

i won't even care about getting the crystal staff for my mage since i have a som. crystal staff = useless to me. why couldn't they have made 2 quests for mages? 1 for those who want/need the staff and the other for the rest of us who already have one and need something to better our ac. then allow us to choose which quest to take. i think that would've been a better quest idea.

Got a question! For the knight quest, you have to get another sword of the red knight - what if we have multiple swords? I have like 3 of them so could I bypass Gunter, or whomever the NPC is, and just go with one of the swords I have? Also, I never passed the red knights hood quest - no one told me to go underwater for the hood - so I used other character to get it and I threw away my regular hood because of the weight - can I go back and get the hood again? Anyone know?

Hey waitasec guys!

CSOM is NOT useless. How else does a mage get MP reliably in a fight? Certainly not by hitting people on the other side -- that would just get you hit back, and considering the -3 to hit on SOM against knights with maybe -70AC, you wouldn't get decent mana that way anyways. Holding onto a CSOM and drinking a blue will get you 23 mp/tick, which is certainly more than 3. Or 11 if you use a blue. More than twice the mp is incredibly useful.

2. go overweight on every hunt (which a mage has to do if they wanna stay long)

I doubt most high lvl mages who are mostly into lvling would even want this item. I know i max my weight at 82% every hunt i go on, so equiping this staff would not benefit me. Especially when i have SOM. I just don't see the point in this item!!!! Maybe it'll be good for newbies but not for those of us who've been waiting for better mage items! I'll probably never take this quest. Why pay 100k to get something I won't even use?

Try powerleveling someday, regenning between hunts. When you've got 500mp, it takes almost 10 minutes to go from 0 to 500. If you're on FI it takes longer cos you don't have a house or hotel. Cutting that in half is going to help, depending about how many times you hunt per day. Being able to hunt an extra hour every four days with the same time spent in game suits me fine, I'll make the money back in 12 days doing the same runs. Others play more than an average of 4 hours a day; they may have a different playstyle, etc. As a mage you use up your mana. Reaching the end of a hunt lets you cast more spells, or use som less, or whatever, because you don't need to save mp for later. Sure, you know you're going to be waiting soon, but you're killing things to make up for that.

As a comparison, think about the incremental increase when you dai something +7->+8 or higher. With base damage, str bonuses, any class bonuses, arrow damage if you're using a bow, blah, blah, you're doing anything between 20-40 damage. Balance up the addition of a single point with a chance of blowing the item? Doesn't sound worth it until you take into account the sheer number of hits a weapon will make in a hunt/day/level. Multiply 1 damage * the number of hits you for a level, and you've got a big number. Sure, some mops go down in the same number of hits. But if you lay down 11 hits per taurv instead of 12, thats speeded you up incrementally. Lots of taurv per level = lots of increments = time saved.

Still over an hour to go... sigh...

csom not a bad item but... nc still goes nerfing mages. with som u dont need to stay at hotel and with Csom u cant hunt for long time :( they have the worst quest! not lvl 30 quest that one seems easy but lvl 15 quest.. its imposible! at lvl 49 y lvl up 0.16% in 4 hours only killing skeletons to get the skull and still nothing ;( that 570 skeletons!!!

Since FI update kinghts get good swords and armors.. elfs gets bowgun and +6t-shirt now! princes get a cloack with +1 to all stats. And what did mages get?? they get som out.. get an useles mage cloth couse its so expensive and DSM is much better, and imposible quests..they get the chao penalty ;( and the soft ac update!

What the fuck is doing NC??? instead of nerfing mages they would help them! cause knight can esasly reach lvl 50+ (there are almost 100 knights 50+ now!) and how many mages?? 5?? >_< nc should do something! and they dont do anything!

Gee, maybe NC seems to be downgrading mages because they were TOO POWERFUL to begin with? Ever think of that?

A single mage with no items and 8 bug bears could take out 2 knights if he had good control. They fixed that by updating the summons.

A single mage (probably with ac) could take out as many knights as he could cast curse:paralyze. NC responded with the chaotic penalty.

A mage could hunt with no potions at all in harder areas (like dvc5~6). This seemed kinda dumb, thus the soft AC.

As some of the arguements against soft AC went, mages need AC because they need to melee for MP. You can't have both SOM and CSOM, and CSOM allows a mage to gather MP without having to melee.

One can also point out that princes(ses) don't have their unicorn horn, (most) knights don't have dragonslayer, and elves don't have all their elven spells yet.

you forgot mages don't have all oif their spells either...and I will guess that elves will get all their spells before mages get all of theirs.

I thoroughly enjoyed being a mage, it was fun, UNTIL ALL THE DAMNED NERFS. Now I play a knight and heh, so easy and kinda boring compared to mage, but at least I know my knight won't get nerfed...

Well I hope somebody can see this comment way down here...

I play mage only now... I had level 48 knight, decided to make mage, and let me tell you other mages...lots of you have it sweet.

Many mages will have the following: +4 Mage Set, +6 Elven Shield or +4 Int Shield, +4 IB, +4 IG, +4 CoP, +4 T-shirt. This is the mage not going for strength. MANY mages I know also have a variety of +6 weapons (SoM,SoF,SLS/MB). I had the elven shield and above items, but a +0 Staff of Sorcery.

I hit level 28 in 4 days, and I do admit, we are weak as hell, I lost my elven shield at level 13, but then I got int book at level 19. However, look at it this way...

If * I * can do it without any +6 weaponry, no SoM, and no SoF/MB/SLS, you can't be complaining. I still leveling at decent pace, and its quite fun compared to knight.

Stupidity was completely correct. We were too powerful, and we got taken back to the bottom of the food chain pretty much. But whenever we get an update with the other classes it's always: Why is it the other classes get beneficial/easy quests and we get a cruddy item and an impossible quest!

Why? Not that the item sucks (CSoM is a GREAT item for mage in high level areas), not that the other ones are too great (Knights get new version of ES, Elves get a t-shirt [okay, thats kind of great], and princes get new cloak [THAT is nice, but not great for AC]). The mages complain just because they want to.

Soft AC is no problem if your a NORMAL mage (aka, you don't go right next to the mops). And those saying "Elves are too buff, NOW THEY CAN SUMMON!", I may be wrong, but it looked to me like they get ONE spirit at a time. It MAY be able to kill a single skel guard of mage, but then again, mages get 3 (2-4, 3 is average). Why is it that when they get this little spirit mages suddenly act like elves now have superiority to mages in every way? Also, notice the thing mages have, HEAL PLEDGE. Use it, all your summons are healed. Last I checked elves don't have the ability to heal a whole group with one spell.

Thus I must say to all my fellow mages: QUIT COMPLAINING AND PLAY! If you don't want to be a mage, QUIT! The less mages the more abundance of spellbooks, meaning the lower the prices for the ones who realize we aren't getting screwed over in every way possible.

natures blessing: heals members of casters party a significant ammount....who knows if it heasl summons/dogs tho i hope so

sad thing is, its lv5 water spell, so we have to be lv50 to use...(who knows if its even in the game yet tho?)

I would really like it if mages could do more than one int book, i know it may sound strange, but i already have the materials for an extra int book and another skull!!

I don't wanna sell theese materials, as i see so many fellow mages that can't get ahold of the freaking skull, and i happen to get one very often. It feels unfair..

I'd like to sell them my extra int books, or give as a present for some friend's mage. Please NC take this into account :) (pretty please?)

BTW: CSOM is great! 23 mp every 15 secs standing still in pledge house and blue, and 28 every 15 secs with blue/house/meditation. You don't regen mp when overweight, tested. Not bad for a 18 wis mage, ain't it? ;)
BTW2: Seems like NC raised the drop rate of the undead key, i killed 15 skells with no key, and then 3 keys in a round, so keep trying fellow mages the staff is worth it. And the 100k.... they hurt, but now that i've payed them, i hope they don't lower the price :P

good points #60 & #63. I have been saying the same thing for a while...

I must say though, the knight quests are a waste of time... Another Red knight sword? I gonna make a +10 rks! lol... I guess it'll be kool if they eventually make a Red Knight set... IF... What else would we need? Boots, gloves, armor? For now though i think it's a big waste of time. But it was kool having FV all to myself today!!!
