Antharas, your time has come! |
As a proper Lineage "welcome back" to Antharas, attempts on the life of Antharas have been made several times today on Dep server. Below, an attempt where the Elven Kings pledge tries to take out Antharas, followed by some encouraging words by the GM!
And then another attempt later in the day:
With some strategy and coordination, this *can* be done. More attempts are happening all the time.

more Korean Test Server updates |
From Lineage Playforum (http://community.playforum.net:8080/bbs/prog/column?action=read&iid=10051004&kid=1447), the following changes were made to the Korean Test Server:
Sieges now cannot be scheduled between 6am and noon. (Korea is only in one time zone, so this may never work for the US servers)
Dragon scales now appear *very rarely* in the dragon's lair. (It's like they are shedding). Currently, they do not appear *at all* unless you kill the dragon. |

Dog Name Changes |
In response to concerns over offensive and vulgar pet
names, effective Tuesday, March 5th any pets with names in violation of
the Lineage Rules of Conduct will be automatically renamed. This will
affect all dogs with sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive,
obscene, and racial or ethnically offensive names. As naming pets in
this manner is a violation of the Rules of Conduct, it should be noted
that abuses of the dog naming feature may result in account action. If
you think that your pet may have an inappropriate name, you may email
support@ncinteractive.com with the pet name in question and we will
review. |

Publish Wed. Feb 27 |
We will be bringing the Lineage servers down for an
unscheduled maintenance at 3:00 PM Central US time on Wednesday,
February 27th. During this time, we will be publishing some fixes and
changes to all three dragons (Valakas, Antharus, and Fafurion), and
fixing an issue for Macintosh users who are unable to create Elven
wafers and/or teleport. As part of the changes in this publish, Valakas
will be temporarily deactivated. We will also be conducting some network
maintenance during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this
maintenance may cause. |

Dog Control Change |
A previously unannounced change has been updated with the Episode 10 publish affecting dogs. Dogs that have levels above their owner’s level will no longer be fully controllable by the owner. Players will be able to auto-kennel the dog by simply logging out when the dog is set to anything but Alert mode, or by using the Kennel Master menus if near enough to the Kennel Master. When the player owner reaches a level above that of the dog, they will then be able to control the dog fully. We apologize for not announcing this change prior to publish. |

Login Connection Problems |
Due to the amount of bandwidth traffic being used by players connecting to Lineage and the publish update, we will be limiting the number of connections trying to log in at one time to a set amount. If you are unable to log in to Lineage, please wait a few moments and try again. Note that this will not affect those players already logged in, and once you proceed past the login and patch process then you will be able to play normally.

Episode X |
The publish of Episode X: Lair of Valakas is scheduled to be completed
during the 10:00 AM CDT maintenance period on Tuesday, February 26th.
All Lineage servers will be unavailable for approximately two hours
while the update is completed. In addition to the contents of Episode X
http://www.lineage.com/dev/next_episode.html>, we have also updated
the Lineage website and contact URL to http://www.lineage.com. This new,
shorter URL is available for all methods of contacting NC Interactive,
including email. For example, you may now contact Lineage North America
customer support by emailing support@lineage.com,
support@lineage-us.com, or support@ncinteractive.com.
To avoid an excessive patching period on Tuesday, we recommend Windows
users download the version 1.81_17 game client at
ftp://ftp2.lineage-us.com/USLin181_17.exe. Macintosh users who connect
to the Lineage servers prior to Tuesday will not need to download an
update. There will be an additional small file patch to this client
following the Tuesday server publish.
Additionally, please be aware that Windows users accessing non-North
American servers, modifying the Lineage desktop shortcut, or running
Lineage directly from the executable file in the Windows Lineage
directory may interfere with the patching process. If you have done any
of the above, you will need to reset your Lineage desktop shortcut. To
do so:
Right-click on the Lineage desktop shortcut and choose
"Properties"
Select the shortcut tab and locate the "Target" line
Your target line should read "C:\Program Files\Test
Lineage\lineage.exe" /us
Adjust the target line to match if necessary.
Click 'OK' to close. |

Marak2001 hits level 50! |
Continuing the wave of people hitting level 50 on the US servers, we are proud to announce Marak2001 as the fourth person to hit level 50.
He is the first *PRINCE* (Prince of BLOODRAGE) to hit level 50 on KEN server! He has a -4x AC and +6 SLS and prefers to hunt DV and DV Caves. He is a mixture of a STR and CHA prince, with a 15 STR and 16 CHA. He plays 6 hours on weekdays, 8-12 hours on weekends. His lineage goals are to hit level 52 and own a castle. It took him 3 months to get from level 49 to 50. He is not sure if he has received his level 50 bonus yet and no monitors have contacted him.
Marak2001, Lineage Compendium and staff congratulate you!

RockManX |
RockManX reached level 50 on Ken (3rd in US, 2nd on Ken, 2nd Knight). Congratulations RockManx!!
RockManX is a Strength knight. RockManX got his spell bonus but was unable to learn his spells yet. (Pr0fessi0nal on Dep finally has his level 1 spells). No Monitor was online to help him with that, so note to NC: He's ready!! :)
RockManX was created 6 months ago, and spent 34 days at level 49. He plays for 6 hours a day.
He has -5x AC and a +8 rap. He hunts in outside in Dragon Valley , no morph, no dogs. However, sometimes he does hunt in Giran 4f in morph. However, hunting nonstop is not his life -- I have seen him fight during Giran sieges before, which makes his levelling that much more impressive. ^^
He died just once in level 49.
RockManX's plans are: getting to level 52. He's a seasoned vet (has been playing Ken since it has opened).
Congratulations RockManX! |

world time |
I know its a constant source of confusion as to what hour the server is in. The server is SUPPOSED to be in Central Time. So, based on that, we have added a clock to the menu bar.
Lineage Compendium is in ET (-5 GMT), so all the times on the site are 1 hour off from NC. Maybe I'll make this consistent later. For now, it should clear up a lot of confusion on the times for people who are in Europe, etc.
One last thing, the NC server moves around from Mountain Time (-7 GMT) to Central Time (-6 GMT) every once in awhile with no warning or reason. Hopefully they will fix it. Currently all siege times in game are in Mountain Time. The siege times on the Siege Reports page are *always* in Eastern, no matter what.
You can thank EdgyAsHell for the fun clock :) |

Player Stories |
We are calling forth to all citizens of Lineage, to share their stories of adventure and travel throughout Aden! Once per week, we will post a topic for the stories. Players will be able to submit stories focused on this topic and based upon their in-game adventures. One story will be selected from the week’s submissions, and posted on our web site.
Only a story based upon the general topic will be posted for that week.
The topic will be posted into the News section. Submissions for the stories should be sent to LineageStories@ncaustin.com (this is not case sensitive) and include your real name and a character name and server to which the story may be credited. All submissions become the property of NCsoft and may be used for advertising or promotional purposes. If your story is chosen, NCsoft staff may contact you for screenshots appropriate to the storyline.
This week's story topic - Dragon Valley! Send us your stories about interesting hunts or strange/funny happenings in Dragon Valley. |

Da Bears! |
Using lots of trial and error, we were able to find some things out about the bears (thanks to Qwazin, Laura and Uttar who helped in the data collection). There are two different mops out there now, wandering the wooded areas across Aden. (They're not hard to find if you wander around a bit, just look for a bunch of people standing around where normally there are none).
Both the Bear and the Teddy Bear are passive. Bear is a level 10 mop with what appears to be 100 HP, 0 MP and -15 alignment. Teddy Bear is a level 12 mop with more HP, 0 MP and -15 alignment. Bear has been verified to drop adena, red potions and candy. Teddy Bear has been verified to drop adena, candy, orange potion, potion of bravery and scroll of enchant armor.
However the most amusing thing about Teddy Bear is the graphics. Next time, instead of slaughtering the bear so quickly, let it hit you once without you hitting back. He'll actually get up, hop around like a boxer and then hit you with a reverse kick! Then, when he dies, instead of checking immediately to see if you got the n-zel, observe the bear. He'll actually lay there for a moment, and then make this final pathetic attempt to crawl away. It's actually quite sad, but you can imagine that you have vanquished the bear that would otherwise harm your Valentine. ^^

Edgy strikes again! |
EdgyAsHell (design credit goes to Laura) made our site more Valentine's appropriate. Hopefully everyone will be nice to each other by following the example of Death Knight and Queen Ant, who are rekindling a love from long ago.
Also added to the site is a new calculator. Gentile and Pr0fessi0nal have inspired lots of people to stop creating new characters, stop PKing and start levelling up. So, I wrote a tool that will let you know what day YOU will be level 50 (or 52, or whatever) at your current rate of hunting. Enjoy!

HKLineage reports on Chinese New Year |
In HK servers, it appears that if you had a red pocket, it was today replaced with b-adena. I'll just paste Briel's New Years message here:
(Today is the Lunar New Year, I (Briel) in respect of HKLineage.com wish everyone do as you wish, everything is better than expectation and "horses ready, siege castle"! All Red Pockets in Hong Kong server becomes blessed adena. However the results were out of everyone expected. The lower the characters' level, the higher the blessed adena they will get! Normally Lv40+ players get only 500 blessed adena, while the level 10's level players get 4000 or more!
PS: The blessed adena are separated from the normal adena before you identify, also the blessed one will not display the quantity. You have to identify it in order to see how much actually you got. When you are login next time the blessed adena will become unidentified. So if you want to keep the blessed adena remember to store them in locker as soon as you identfied them, otherwise you may use them wrongly. Apart from appearance there is no difference between blessed and normal adena.)

PR0FESSI0NAL hits level 50 on Dep server |
PR0FESSI0NAL is the first level 50 knight in the USA, the first level 50 player on Dep and the second level 50 player in the USA. Congratulations PR0FESSI0NAL!
Pr0fessi0nal is a STR 20 knight. He did not get a bonus immediately, but upon hitting 50, he was immediately teleported to Gereng, and a Monitor spoke to him, and provided him with a Magic Bonus (of 1). The Monitor seemed to believe that Pr0fessi0nal was supposed to be given the ability to cast level 1 spells, but at this time, he could not yet learn from Gereng.
Pr0fessi0nal was created 4 months ago, and spent 1 month and 2 weeks at level 49. He plays for 6 hours a day during the weekdays and 12 hours a day during the weekends. (That's some serious committment).
He has -5x AC and a +9 rap. He spends his time hunting in Dragon Valley (not in the caves), no morph, no dogs. He mentioned that the way he has enough money to continue hunting is by saving *everything* and selling it, this includes COMR, bows, everything, to get every possible adena that DV offers.
He has died a total of 5 times, ever.
He's determined to get to level 52, and his goals from Lineage is a Dragon Slayer and Death Knight morph. He estimates 3 months until level 52, as he does not plan to let up even now.
While level 52 is all up to him, the Dragon Slayer quest is something that NC has to enable for us. So, he has one message for NC:
Congratulations Pr0fessi0nal! |

HK - DEX knights |
Correction: Looks like what the news actually says is that having a DEX of 16 or more was previously NOT allowed, and now it has been fixed. That would mean that this news item is completely meaningless. Sorry :)
Lineage - HK (http://www.lineage.com.hk/lineage/lineage_news.asp?tablename=news&news_num=49&act=news_list) has now set a limit on the DEX allowed for knights to 15.
This is not necessarily a change that will make it to the USA, but I wanted to add a new news item since everyone seemed to be getting bored of the Tsurugi post. ^^ |

NC - USA goes against the grain with tsurugi |
Well, looks like NCSoft - Austin decided to go a different direction that the other countries by making the tsurugi a two-handed weapon. Under these circumstances, I certainly won't be making one. :(
Because of the way the playerbase currently exists, and because of gameplay balance reasons, we are going to keep the Tsurugi two handed. It's not meant to be drastically above other highly powerful weapons, but still powerful yes.
We want to keep an eye on this. It would be much easier in the future to decide after study to make it one handed again, then to change it to two handed after many players already have the weapon. One is giving the players and advantage, the other takes something away from them that they have. We'd rather would like to avoid having to take anything away if possible. By this method, we can see how things go and if we decide later to change it then we can. So far the plan is to leave it as two handed, and see how it all goes.

Deathmatch |
More details on fighting in the arena:
A prince or princess purchases tickets at the Colosseum Manager, an NPC which is located just a bit to the right of the bottom tip of the arena. The arena costs 550 for each entry ticket, but you have to buy 8 tickets at a minimum.
Each entry ticket allows unlimited re-entry into the arena while the prince/princess has the arena rented out. The only exit from the arena is teleport. So, if there is a deathmatch planned, people can technically teleport out, restock, regen, and come back in. (Can be disruptive to any prince-sponsored events)
The prince/princess, when in the arena, can be killed. (Can be potentially disruptive.)
Laura gave me a summary of the results of the first deathmatch: There were 6 participants. Everyone die/venz except GameCube and Accidin. Game Ended up IceLancing Accidin and then weapon breaking him plenty of times to where his weapon didnt do much more damage than a dagger im sure. Anyway, they were both going at it for a while, and accidin was the first to venz, therefore, GameCube won the 50k and then i gave the rest of the tickets out to the first 5 who saw me. We all just went in and had a fun time. |

miscellaneous observations on test server |
Test server has been putting in a few updates here and there, here's three notables:
Laura held what was likely the first Arena event ever on the US servers. Now you can rent the arena out like previously reported and hold a little deathmatch or whatever you like, complete with spectators. The rental fee is 550 for each participant you want to let in (minimum 8), on test server at 10% tax rate.
Noodle helped me test the elven wafers, and US players will be happy to know that there is now a huge increase in all speeds for elven wafer. While not as much of a change as a knight brave is, elf + wafer + green is faster at everything compared to knight + wafer + green EXCEPT walking. Knight + brave + green still walks faster. Detail can be found in the Morph Guide
Noodle observed that if you right click near stairs, it asks you what portal you wish to use. Then you can click on stairs and it will let you use them. This appears to be for people who get stuck and stairs cease to work.
Undocumented episode 10 change: Devil pointed out that you cannot use dogs at a higher level than you any more. They just growl at you.
If anyone has any more undocumented changes, please email us at web@lineagecompendium.com |

Episode 10 being published to Test Server |
The test server will be going down for a tentative estimated two hours to receive the Episode 10 publish information, beginning at 1pm central US time.
Here is what's being added:
Aggressor time (the amount of time you ‘go pink’ after an unprovoked attack on another player) has been increased.
Bookmarks in dungeons will no longer function. New bookmarks in dungeons will not be allowed.
Antharas and Fafurion have been re-activated and will behave a bit differently compared to the past: Tamed creatures near the dragons will become wild, and dogs will return to their kennel. Any items on the dogs will automatically go to the dog owner when this action occurs. Summoned creatures will disappear without leaving corpses when confronting the dragons.
Neither pets nor summoned creatures will be able to enter the Lair of Valakas.

Within these caves is the largest living place of the dwarves in Aden and is where the underground dwarf kingdom emerges, which is the headquarters of the Iron Gate guild. In the underground dwarf kingdom, the heat of lava is used to forge steel in the blacksmith shops and various excellent dwarf blacksmiths are able to create many special weapons and defensive items. The siege system exists in this underground kingdom, and one can capture the underground kingdom.

Connectivity & Cable Modems |
We are receiving increased reports of customers in the South West US regions experiencing connection problems when playing Lineage over a cable modem connection. After researching this issue, we are seeing network issues at a peer point between atdn.net (registered to AOL) and Qwest. For the last 24-48 hours this peer point has been dropping connectivity just long enough to cause interruptions in TCP connections. We have passed this information on to our service provider as well as contacted both Qwest and AOL, and will announce any resolution as we receive word. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. |
